About the same time as the "I'm an AFF cyber hero" sticker pack comes out.

How many sets can I put you down for?

This is a great idea. For the new people it can identify the people to ask questions and who might be more inclined to answer with helpful stuff.

Lets just hope it doesn't turn into a beauty contest with the dots!

Because purple is cool.

Actually it will be to make it easier to differentiate between the different rep levels.

Got to say that being able to positively reinforce other users on here adds a new dimension to the experiance. People should be "rewarded" for making encouraging/informative/unselfish contributions to the wider community.

Well done Admin.

It seems to be blowing out of proportion a bit dependiong on people's understanding of it. Basically it is only in use for users to give another member positive feedback for a helpful post in their opinion, it's not like the system can be abused and we see a popularity contest of who has the most green dots. It's been implemented so that rep can't be given out willy nilly and people are always giving it to mates etc all the time.

Basically someone with a high rep is a valued and helpful member of the forums.

They will work with each other. It just give people an idea of which members are more likely to be able to give out useful, helpful and informative information so you can either ask them directly or via a thread

We have raised the daily reputation hits to 3 on an experimental basis as this seems a more reasonable number for those who proactively use the system.

I will also be experimenting with some different icons in place of the green boxes so if they change throughout the day you will know why!

Cheers
Russ

It's an icon sized version of the AFF logo! Just another of the test ones.

How about Just having 1 icon that changes as the rep increases.

L = Billy Kart

P = Go Kart

So on and so forth.

Just a suggestion

Or a picture of a Tacho or Boost Guage

and the more rep you have the further around the needle gets etc....

Have considered this but it requires substantial recoding of the actual control functions as it would be necessary to introduce more levels and the current coding is set to work around the one box per 100 points (up to 500) and then 1 per 200 thereafter.

The amount of available space restricts the size of icon that can be used to not much more than 12x12 pixels which rules out anything with any real detail in it.

Cheers
Russ

Why not make the little icon thingies spell out a word like Ford Forums or something like that. Is that possible?

Oh,,,maybe not...Everyone would have an F under their names to being with.... . Maybe another word then...

That depends on your reputation power as defined earlier in the thread - it will be different for everyone.

Hopefully this hasnt' been pointed out already and i've missed it....

Is there any way to find out how many rep points i have left to give out? I understand how the number you have to give out are calculated, but how much does one 'rep boost' give someone??? I have given out two rep boosts so far to helpful members but i wouldn't have a clue how many i have left given i'd have to add up my current months of membership, look at my posts etc. etc. Its not all that important really just wondering is all.

Oh and i think it is a great idea by the way...particularly for new members.

It isn't limited as such - each time you give rep points it is the same amount based on the criteria you mentioned. In your case it is 34 points every time you give someone reputation.

Cheers
