I think it's predominantly the types who choose to go with the Chev badging rather than the badge itself. I know I see enough idiots sporting that badge to assume a bloke with a Chev badged Commodore is more likely to act like a jerk on the road than one without. It's an assumption, right or wrong.

Just my 2c.

It was cast and built in Geelong actually.

Doesn't quite have the same ring to it that the Cleveland has.

Even worse, I've seen an Epica getting around with Chev badges, was being driven around Docklands by Asian (Korean?) uni students, so hardly the bogan type who'd slap a Chev badge on anything...

I would put Ghia badges on a FG. People ask what is a G6 or G6E and I tell them it is what used to be Fairmont and Fairmont Ghia.

Plus I would put Typhoon and Tornado badges on the FG FPV F6 models.

Perception, thats how they are sold overseas.
Or they could have been GM test cars.

chev badges have been on commodores for much longer than the vt ii. maybe that is when holden put them on (personally i do not care if they did). people have been putting their own personal touches on cars for years - so what if it is more conforming than individual now - there are plenty of bridges around

omg - i just realised, my xb fairmont coupe has an fc ltd boot lock surround and a gt badge on the grille and a sticker that relates to a lancer gsr turbo on my back window. then again, they all have a meaning that the average aff member could not understand
cleveland is a nickname anyway, they are 335's

With that thinking, you'd put a Forte or GLi badge on a XT because that is what it used to be called?

No, no, no, no. Please no.

On this topic though, my mates old man bought an AUII XR8 new, then got a '200' sticker made for the rear corner of the boot like the HSVs, to represent the engine's kilowatt output. Lame.

Huh...anyone would think putting Chev badges on Holdens was a new thing...I've got one of these in the shed myself in a box somewhere...

Of course the difference is that it actually meant something way back then and wasn't just for a **** factor...

While I agree with the thought that Ford shouldn't have got rid of the Fairmont and Fairmont Ghia namebadges, I probably wouldn't go quite so far as to re-badge them if I ever bought one. I usually like to keep my car as close to factory spec as possible.

In my opinion, that's different. It's still a Falcon XT, just as it was once a Falcon Forte and a Falcon GLi. If I had an FGII XR6 I would be very tempted to re-badge it as a "Falcon XR6", because it is, after all, a Falcon.

But with G6 and G6E, they got rid of the Fairmont badges altogether. I could've lived with Ford calling it a "Fairmont G6" or a "Fairmont G6E".

Over six months ago I noticed a VE bouncing down the Hume.

I drove passed and noticed it had rims the same size diameter as the kid's pool.

This guy put 2 and 2 together, literally, and had a badge telling the world how big his rims were.... 22".

Saw the number plate "HOT 05L" on a VT V6 Wagon. Such a waste. I can only assume the bloke owned a 5L but no longer does but doesn't want to pay storage for the plates at the RTA.

Just remembered. The engine number for the Brisbane clevo is GL 31826.

Got no idea what it's from or how old it is.

The only Clevos made in Oz were built in Geelong as far as i'm aware.

F100's may have been assembled in Brisbane, but the engines probably wouldn't have been. I think Brisbane was just an assembly plant.

Maybe GL means Geelong, however Clevo's made in Geelong and put in to Falcons had JG codes, which is Broadmeadows.

Maybe GL was for Geelong made clevo's that were put in to cars other than Falcons & their derivatives, such as F100's.

Any ideas anyone?
