Its just that it will probably be one of the most, if not the most, expensive show to produce on a weekly basis on Australian TV.
Agreed. The regulars would have leverage over the suits and they would be afforded large salaries if it were to be a weekly show - just won't happen in todays climate. Stations are downsizing their 'talent'. I would be shocked if Hey Hey had a weekly spot. Monthly, perhaps - and the interest will probably wane over time before it was axed.

They're also spoiled by topping the ratings charts with cheap reality TV. I'd imagine Border Security/Front Line costs frig all to produce but it's always in the Top 5 of the week, and tops its time slot by a huge margin = fat advertising dollars.

At least Rose-Marie didn't win it. I'd rather hear a chior of cats being strangled than that.

It is a shame that this is the last we will see of Hey Hey. The real shame is that much of the talent are contracted to other networks, and the chances of a revival are small.

Does anybody else keep expecting another word after Mother in that song? I do...

Funny show tonight, pity that Connick had to jump on the PC bandwagon - perhaps he should look around and see that he isn't a African American and he isn't in America.

That said, I was suprised that they would pick an act like that for the show, particularly when it was so big on that twitter stuff.

The industry uses the 5 city OzTam figure which is 2.149m averaged over the televised event. I'm guessing either Daryl or Nine (as they often do) inflated the numbers by adding regional figures. Nobody in the business gives a damn about a combined Metro/Regional figure, we never talk about them. As mentioned MasterChef on Ten pulled more, as did many other events this year.

P.S. For real television catch all the action on Seven this weekend!

What is it with that Jackson Five Red Faces act and Connick?
Doesn't anyone remember the Black and White Minstrel Show from years ago?

I can't see a problem...........and Connick was offended?
What the?

That was the worst part of the show, Connick had a sook about the MJ inperonators, going on how in the US they don't do that... What a sec, where are the KKK based? Hey Harry, how's ya cotton fields???

Other than that, the night was very funny. I missed the start but watched 2 hours of it, spent plenty of time in tears of laughter.

We shouldn't be getting up in arms about red faces, we're Australians after all; not the pathetic seppos who file suit when a bee stings them. We should take a page out of our English ancestry's book of humour. Check out what they think in Britain of Michael Jacksons death.

Whilst I didn't find it at all offensive, I do understand.
It was blackface comedy, that's a big no no in the states. It has it's roots from white guys taking the micky out of black people when they weren't allowed in theatres.

And I know everyone says "well this isn't the US?" but I know my beliefs and morals don't change when I travel abroad, and it would be silly to expect him to do as such, then return to his hometown of New Orleans.

And you say "where are the kkk based" but that's exactly the point, that's why Americans are so PC. Because they still have a huge racism problem.

Like I said I didn't find it at all offensive. But I also realize it's hard for Australians to see Harry's point of view. Because although we don't have the greatest history as far as racism goes, we don't have the slavery history of the states.

I LOL'd at that scenerio

By other means, what Yellow_festiva has said above, I saw that too, and it was Nine who stated it, all ratings incuding all the regions across Australia has been added to the total ratings. I am 100% sure that last night's show has skyrocketed the ratings since last week.

Well said.

Harry dealt with the situation well. He didn't get up and walk out. He gave a zero, then when given the opportunity spoke of his feelings well. He perfomed a number as well. So all credit to him. He has his beliefs, he is entitled to them. I have great respect for the guy.

2.308m from prelim figures, not the skyrocket you were hoping but then Nine haven't given their own ratings version for you and Daryl yet...

I found White Chicks more offensive than that segment last night. How was it racist exactly? I honestly can't see it. All I saw was a group of guys impersonating a well known musical group.
