That's even worse - public transport to the venue, huge numbers of contacts at the protests, how many did they infect?

Name & shame IMO

I'm sure those demonstrators would have Scomo's Covid 19 app on their phones so it will be easy to trace people.

They won’t, half are professional protesters, and I’ll let you guess what else they support / protest against.

That's a really interesting animation. I wonder though what that bar is between conflict and hepatitis.

Other points of interest. Alcohol kills more people than all other recreational drugs combined.

Suicide twice as many as homicide and more even than malaria!

According to medical abbreviations it is “gastrointestinal inferior disease”?

Just under 21k new cases in the USA yesterday and 982 deaths sees CMR down to 5.572% and active cases down to 55.3% although the raw number of active cases is rising.

Other notable points:

Amazing how scientists can track and trace virus to such detailed level. Every country should be doing this so that the spread can be mapped.

ACT relaxing restrictions again next week with max 100 people while considering the distancing rules.

I said to the blokes at work a while back as soon as we can go back to the pubs, we need to get on the **** ASAP.

They were gobsmacked since I have dogged everything since I've been there.

I will put a pre-condition on it that you have to come back to work, not WFH though. I don't want fly ins.

No way I would survive if my boss was not there. It's so quiet when either of us are not there talking **** so I'm told

I'm sure it could regardless of what way it goes

However Australia's verdict will not be until 2022 on a normal timeline.

I do have have to give kudos to Scomo for finally wedging the states by saying you can't have international visitors if you keep your state borders closed. And it makes perfect sense.

2025 - let that sink in.

As always, woteva happens in America hits our shores. It used to take years, even decades - now almost overnight.

Pre-Covid 19 and these protests I reckon the odds were on his side, but after that I don't know. On face value it is looking like lights out but then there was 2016.

At least we have the option to vote in or out our representatives even if it isn't perfect in our countries.

Considering all the riots/protesting/marches with no spacial distancing, how can they complain about the Trump rallies re-commencing within 2 weeks?

It might be luck but we have truly smashed the curve in Australia.

Here in Canberra we have setup a field hospital to cope with extra demand that has had 0 patients so far.

Apparently it cost $23m which seems like a ****en lot to me but will give more capacity if and when another wave comes.

A family member from the US sent me this. I'm not registered to the Washington Post so can't validate the content.

https://www.washingtonpost.com/healt...ebsite-states/

So based on the guidance below, it would appear that "short term" mass gatherings outdoors, such as protests that we've seen in Australia, is not as risky as being stuck indoors with a few hundred people screaming and carrying on...which is what is going to happen at those election campaigns. . Not sure how something like the MCG would be classified, where it is a bit of mix. We do know the Italy outbreak was kicked off from a football match in Bergamo where 40,000 attended.

---------------

The US Government’s Centre for Disease Control (GCDC) has made official the emerging scientific evidence on Coronavirus Transmission

Very low risk of transmission from surfaces.

Very low risk from outdoor activities.

Very high risk from gatherings in enclosed spaces like offices, religious places, cinema halls or theatres.

These findings that have been emerging for a while need to be applied by people to manage the situation in the best manner possible.

Time to reduce panic about surface transmission, and time to not be too eager to go back to office.

-----------

WHAT IT TAKES TO INFECT

To successfully infect you, the virus needs a dose of ....

~1000 viral particles (vp)

The typical environmental spread of activities: -

Breath: ~20 vp minute

Speaking: ~200 vp minute

Cough: ~200 million vp (enough of these may remain in air for hours in a poorly ventilated environment)

Sneeze: ~200 million vp

----------

FORMULA

Successful infection = Exposure to Virus Time SCENARIOS

* Being in vicinity of someone (with 6 ft distancing) Low risk, if limit to less than 45 minutes

* Talking to someone face to face (with mask): Low risk if limit to less than 4 minutes.

* Someone passing you walking/jogging/cycling: Low risk

* Well-ventilated spaces, with distancing: Low risk (limit duration)

* Grocery shopping: Medium risk (can reduce to low by limiting time and following hygiene)

* Indoor spaces: High risk

* Public Bathrooms/Common areas: High fomite/surface transfer risk.

* Restaurants: High risk (can reduce to Medium risk by sitting outdoors with distancing and surface touch awareness)

* Workplaces/Schools (even with social distancing): Very high risk, including high fomite transfer risk.

* Parties/Weddings: Very high risk.

* Business networking/conferences: Very high risk.

* Arenas/Concerts/Cinemas: Very high risk.

-----------

RISK FACTORS

The bottom line factors you can use to calculate your risk are...

- indoors vs outdoors

- narrow spaces vs large, ventilated spaces.

- high people density vs low density

- longer exposure vs brief exposure.

The risks will be higher for former scenarios.

-----------

C19 making a comeback in China this time through Beijing. World needs to watch this very closely and not repeat the mistakes from early 2020.

And the lies from the CCP continue that China is not in the top 20 list.

As of 14 June 19:03 AEST, China is just outside the top 20 with 57 new cases.

Of the 57 new cases, 36 are from Beijing, where a large wholesale food market at the centre of the outbreak has been closed and nearby housing estates put under lockdown.
