i'm not 100% sure, but maybe because you haven't received any rep points yet (not power, points, which you receive when someone gives you positive feedback on your posts)

cheers, Anthony

Oh i get it - every face is 100 rep points

so if you have 3 faces and 67 points you have 33 points to go before you get the 4th face

No you don't - your description changed because the point value for the next level changed upwards!

Not quite.
Each face is worth a 100 points or part thereof - so from 0-99 points you have 1, 100-199 you have two etc.

The 67 points is totally unrelated as this is the amount you give to other people.

You currently have 210 points thus that equals the 3 faces and require another 90 to ge the next.

Cheers
Russ

Ahh, so if someone reps you with 1 point you get 1 point added. If you rep someone they get and extra head.

Perhaps the OP or a new thread be made with a Q&A so it can explain things.

Rep power is the amount of points you allocate to a person when giving reputation points.
You have 29 so said persons rep is boosted by 29, when enough members add rep to equal 100 you get another smiley face.

From the first post (with amendments as applicable):

The smiley faces.

These are part of the user reputation system that we have introduced on the forum.

Basically the system works like this:

This system allows users to reach predefined reputation levels as follows:

User can only hope to improve -500
User has a little way to go -250
User is an unknown quantity at this point 0
User Still on L plates 10
User P Plater 101
User Advanced Driver - well worthy of respect 301
User is a jewel in the rough 500
User is just really nice 750
User is a beacon of light 1,000
User is a name known to all 1,500
User has much to be proud of 2,500
User has a reputation beyond repute 5,000

All new users start at 10 points of reputation.
Each smiley face is worth a 100 points or part therof so a user with 101 points would have two smiley faces.

All users have the ability to add to the reputation of another user as long as:

1. They have at least 50 posts
and
2. they have at least 50 points of their own

Registered users can issue points as follows (once they meet the criteria above):

1 point for each 30 days of membership
1 point for each 500 posts
1 point for each 100 points of their own reputation

These are displayed as each users Rep Power to save you calculating it yourself.

Reputation points can only be allocated three times per day and there must be 30 other users allocated points before the same user can be awarded again.

Only Admins, Mods and Super Mods can leave negative reputation.

The system has been introduced as a means of allowing all members the opportunity to recognise those fellow members whose contribution to the forum has been of value to them. It is not a popularity contest but is designed to help new users identify those individuals whose input to the forum is of added value.

If somebody has added to your reputation you will be able to see the last ten additions in your user control panel.

Reputation power is what you can give someone else - each time you add to another users reputation this is the amount of points they will be given.

Reputation is your own point score which contributes to the number of smiley faces that you have and the reputation level you can see when you hover your mouse over the smiley faces.

The two are unrelated except to the extent that your Reputation partially contributes to your Reputation Power.

I hope this clarifies things for everyone.

Cheers
Russ

I understand. Thanks Russ. Plus the smileys are easier on the eyes compared to the green boxes.

So.... In essence be nice to people who have a high "rep power" point number because if they add to your count they add allot of points!!!

Thanks, this cleared it up good.

However how come some members who have 2000 or more posts are only L platers and/or have low prep power???

Because rep power is weighted more toward length of membership than post count.

It therefore eliminates the method of post spamming to build reputation.

People can only realistically do that for each other once. I'm quite sure that if you post up a useful bit of info, help someone out that they would give you rep points whether they know you or not.

I've been doing that for the last 3 years, but that doesnt seem to count at all. Seems all my 'BA How to' threads, advice and help to newcomers guiding them to threads that answer their problems etc. have not been appreciated at all by the forum masters.

Just feel quite deflated really, probably wont be wasting any more time here anymore. Will spend more time on my more productive hobbies now.

Exactly. I have had tons of positive feedback inside threads, yet "only" four reps so far. I would not get too concerned by it, I am sure that everyone that has benefitted by your efforts will show you in kind at some point.
