My battery has gone flat and I would to know if the battery is replaced what happens to the ecu. I have read the document on aufalcon.com about resetting the ecu and wondered is this neccassary. If there anything that has to be done or reset because the battery is disconnected and then replaced.

Nothing to worry about bud. I have an AUII ute and have replaced the battery on numerous occasions, no dramas. I even deliberately reset the computer every now and then. At worst, it may have to relearn your driving style before she hits her peak again, but that's all.

Fairy nuf, you leave your lights on, you get a jump and your right. Fairy nuff swapping the battery cause its getting a bit warn, but, on numerous occasions!

Mine was worn and only producing 7 volts. Thanks. Changed the battery and she runs fine now.

Yeah, batteries have been a little funny with my car, however, it's always been a second hand battery going in. I had to replace my alternator a few weeks back too. Apparently the AU alternators aren't too keen on high revs, lol. Not too sure if it has anything to do with the batteries going, but I've also got somewhat of a stereo in my uterus... Anyways, she goes good now and I'm happy! BTW, I beat a Crewman the other day. Pretty much even up to 80kmh, then I started to pull away. Was still gaining ground at around 120, but thought I better stop, lol. Hope for the sake of the Holden that it was a 6, cos my powerhouse is as stock as they come.

Like all the i6 Falcons its the overflow and or leaking hoses that drip power steering fluid into the alternators.. I've seen more alternators overcharge and kill the batteries, than batteries that die from 'natural causes'

I had to replace my alternator due to drowning in power steer fluid ... battery has been good though. Alternators don't mind the odd wash ... as long as it is cleaning power steer fluid out of it ... LMAO.
I will be looking at upgrading my battery soon though ... EGAS motors like a good CCA-rated battery to start with ... also the stereo is getting replaced (and very upgraded) in the near future (ie: when i get some spare time .... something I lack).
