This is even better news below :

HD Broadcasts For Enduros On Seven and Live US Prime Time Coverage

New Deal: Both Bathurst and the Gold Coast will be beamed in HD around Australia and the world.
TELEVISION viewers will be able to watch this year’s Supercheap Auto Bathurst 1000 in High Definition for the first time in the event’s history.

The Seven Network will broadcast simulcast from Mount Panorama in HD on 7mate in addition to the regular 7 channel.

The Armor All Gold Coast 600 in Queensland a fortnight after Bathurst will also be telecast in the same way.

And in a major deal for V8 Supercars, SPEED in the United States will send an on-air and production crew and beam both events back into North America live, in HD and in prime time.

SPEED is available in almost 84 million homes in North America, providing the ideal platform to advertise both New South Wales and Queensland to a major market overseas.

The SPEED on-air crew will be confirmed in the near future, though expat Aussie Leigh Diffey is expected to be part of the line-up having recently tweeted that he will be at both events.

The new deal follows on the back of the recent announcement that the V8 Supercars Championship will race at the new Circuit of the Americas in Austin, Texas, in 2013.

“This is a fantastic announcement for Australian sport and a tremendous endorsement of V8 Supercars,” V8 Supercars Chairman Tony Cochrane said.

“Our sport is acting locally and growing globally every single month. We are on the march internationally and being recognised as such.

“I would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone at FOX Sports and SPEED in America, especially David Hill and Patti Wheeler – North American motorsport fans are in for a real treat with our prestigious races from Bathurst and the fabulous Gold Coast live into their homes in prime time.”

while this is very good for tourism and promotion of australia, i can't imagine it's very good for Holden or Ford Aus. The holden's will probably be renamed chevy and Ford will be showcasing a car that Americans can't even buy.

and not enough crashes or rubbing to get the 'average joe' to watch, unlike nascar. (only racing purists and ex-pat aussies will be interested).

Little bit late on this news. There is a dedicated thread in the pits section to this.

Imagine if they did this when the G8 was released, they could have rebadged the Commodore as a Pontiac. May have given Ford US something to think about perhaps

+2 for me as well.

It would be good to see if the utes could do a support race as well. To costly and wont happen I know but it would be a good spring board for Holden to release their ute as a Chevy El Camino though, and give Ford US something to think about, again
