They'll have to drop the 8 when they go FWD in 2015.

Turbo 6 is good but doesn't hold a candle to the mighty Barra.

Good times to be in the blue corner.

Holden will release whatever Chevrolet do. So if Chevrolet have to make the LS motors pass euro 5, then Holden will import that motor.

GM have plenty of FWD V8's in their line up..
as for holden, will not be going FWD as their's no case for it..
if anything they "may" go AWD, but no mention of it..

They have the one out of the Impala, and its hardly worth writing home about let alone putting it on a ship all the way to Australia. It kinda reminds me of the 253.

There is no place for Zeta in new GM

I remember hearing that the next gen V8 in the Corvettes will be a 5.5l with DI. HSV will probably pick this up.

In the meantime, I cant see them doing anything to drastic, maybe a tune to match the FPV's in VF.

As for LSA/LS9, I think they would be too costly to compete with the GT's, with the engines being about the same price as an LS7.

Chevrolet have nothing to do with it. It is just a model series brand name like Holden, Pontiac, Oldsmobile, Vaxhall, Opel etc. (Well with the exception of the huge "bowtie badge export to Australia division" that some say is what has actually kept GM afloat during the GFC).

The engines are designed, developed and manufactured by General Motors Engine Division (GMED).

Of course "Powered by GMED" is nowhere near as fully sick as "It's got the chevvy engine mate"....

Eh? What's wrong with the 5.3? It's not the most powerful V8 engine in the world, but it's far from being gutless. It's also one of those most economical V8 engines you could ever have. It's really a good engine.

Nothing wrong with the engine, but I'm yet to meet anyone who's driven an Impala and praised it.

I was telling a one eyed holden idiot about the new 5.0L V8 coyote. he just started ranting and raving that it was no good. i said it's got 4 valves per cyl and it's DOHC and it's alloy block & heads pumpes out 307 KW and 528 NM. and the s/c 335 KW and 570 NM. and it a nice small engine and it's light. he did not want to know about it and just started on about how much power some of the GEN 3 & 4 have made on the drag strip.
I said i would imagine the coyote would be able to pull some big revs. his reply was the road runner will always have it over the coyote.
And he is now putting in a bigger cam in his gen3 just to be on the safe side.

Well it definitely has more class, but as far as motors go the VY SS is a little more to my liking.

When I was much younger I thought a chevvy was like a super expensive fantastic sports brand like Ferrari because of the way bogans revered it. Then i realised it's just another average car brand..

As per normal they will probably stick a chev in it! That`s the only way they can make a holden go!

R&D, and cost. There's no real reason for Holden to design, and build their own V8s when it's easier to get one from GM's line up.
