Default Lady Owner, Directors Car, Doctors car etc.

I am a rev head (hoon), i drive heavy trucks with the maximum permitted mass i am allowed, i smoke (not in the family car) and i dont fether my cars..
they are serviced before due time they are never unroadworthy, they are polished and waxed every 3-5 months.
They always look and are immaculate.

But please consider this i am not a 'doctor', 'CEO' or a 'lady driver'.
So please buy a 2nd hand car from the above trio.

OP, your comments are great. I just wish they were in some sort of context!!!
I've often found threads start better with a question.

i think hes saying, people will look at the driver of the car before purchasing,

for example if ur labled a hoon (p's) and dont do stupid things and look and maintain ur car, you will still get over looked

yet if u say oh im a docter/ceo chances are people will be like, oh there respected they must look after there car... when most proberly dont nor care about there car

it all goes back to "labels on life"

Are you selling a car or is there a particular ad you have seen?

Two things come to mind.

Either the OP see's people selling cars and they say was owned by a women, doctor or CEO.

OR

People won't buy his car cause he is thought to be some sorta hoon that has thrashed his car as opposed to the idea that one of the three would take care of their car better.

One third idea is he smoked something stronger then the smokes....

Many moons ago, a mate of dad's purchased a managers personal drive (commondore) from a Holden dealer as a low mileage demonstrator. It came with uprated suspension which was great as he wanted it to tow the van. All good until some minor suspension issue whilst out touring. The local Holden dealer refused to fix the issue under warantee as the vehicle had serious modifications - using non GMH factory parts. After a few nasty phone calls it turns out the manager who used the vehicle prior to original sale had the car modified to cater for his driving passon as an active member of the HDT stunt drivers. So don't always take for granted that the low km driven by company manager hasn't had the crap trashed out of it.

Unfortunately when it comes to cars, unlike a lot of things in life you can indeed usually "label" someone and get a fair impression of what thier car will really be like, despite outward appearances...

"Only driven on sundays"...yep...a quarter mile at a time.
"Hard to find in this condition"...yes, because most people actually look after thier cars and service them once a decade or less.
"First to see will buy"...as long as they're deaf, dumb, and blind.
"Recent engine and gearbox work"...an oil change and a handful of sawdust counts as "work" doesn't it?
"Rare model, hard to find nowadays"...they were that bad when new no one else was stupid enough to buy one.
"Will not disappoint"...no, you will regret, loathe, hate with an all-consuming fury, and despise it...it goes much further than being simply disappointed.
"Little old lady owner"...it was registered in my mums name because I had such an abysmal dangerous driving record that the cops hammered me every time I ventured out on the road and a rego search while they followed the car showed up my name.

In the world of motorcycle advertising, you often see adverts saying "Ulysses Club member"...meaning it was owned by a member of that club, which has a membership age of 50 years old. One would, therefore, assume they had been a mature careful steady rider. Don't you believe it...most of those guys ride like demons...

Well why not? My auntie is in her 50's and shes had a black VY2 HSV clubsport, gunmetal VZ HSV clubsport with 20" chromies (which SHE fitted, did not come on the car), and now owns one of those hideous E2/3 VE HSV clubsports in red.
My Mum is also in her 50s and if she could afford it she would have a G6ET lowered on flash wheels, she currently has an AU lowered with nice wheels.

Just because their mature ladys doesnt mean their not into cars, or chrome wheels etc

Actually, I know a lady well into her 70s who has a lowered 93 Laser with a massive stereo install (she bought the car off her grand daughter).
But I still always find it hard to believe.

I bought a 97 Pajero recently, and it had a key-emblem attached on the keyring, ARS-SCIENTA-MORES... (Latin)

It seems this engine has had 2 new timing belt sets fitted, oil changed at 5000k intervals.... and it's only done 172000 k's?

I'm glad I got hold of this vehicle, it drives like new!

The key chain translates to Skill, Science, Morals... and I've got a "Newish" 14 year old vehicle!

Not saying it never happens. But it's pretty rare. Having said that I saw an older women in a riced up corolla thus morning.

I don't believe much I read on cars for sale online. What is worse is people WHO WRITE THE ENTITE AD IN CAPITAILS. It's usually done by an unprofessional dealer.

Being a country driver I'd have to disagree with you on that one. My VY has done 190,000km and despite engine being replaced under warranty (gudgeon pin noise), the only other stuff done is strut bushes, tie-rod ends and a set of front rotors. majority of the time it's driving in a straight line at 100km/h (under 2000rpm) and it all gets nicely warmed up and not thrashed from stoplight to stoplight and left idling for long periods in traffic.
Personally I'd be happier to buy a car (out of warranty) with 200,000km on it as GENUINE highway kms rather than one with 50,000km driving in Metro Melbourne (Sydney, etc)

Oh and another one of my favourites is the people who have ads with titles like "XF Falcon for sale NOT XA XB XC XY XW XD" so their piece of **** car will show up in searches for XA XB XC etc. but they're technically not misrepresenting their item

I've seen each and every one of those repeatedly over the years. I'm also always very wary of a car that has had a vast amount spent on it and a long list of "quality" modifications, yet still hasn't got a roadworthy or rego. Rego I can understand, but selling it without a roadworthy just kind of looks like you know damn well most of the stuff you've bolted on will never pass a mechanical at the Transport Department and the new owner will have no hope of driving the thing on the road...

Best one ever was an advert for a full-on custom Harley, like something you'd see out of American Chopper. It had a long list of parts and mods, and the photo was obviously of it sitting inside some guys house with some trophies above it on a shelf. He claimed to have spent $65,000 (not hard to do if it's a professional job) and was selling for $45,000. Now came the good bit...he "refused to sell it to anyone who wouldn't treat it with teh respect and care that he had shown it, or who would ride it in the rain or regularly on the road".
Sorry bucko...if I spend $45,000 on a bike, I'm riding the fricking thing. I had dreams of winning lotto and turning up to buy it, then after it was all finalised and paid for, waiting for the most miserable, rainy, and filthy day possible, and riding it off down the street hitting every mud puddle as I go and waving happily as the former owner screamed in horror...

Yeah you've nailed a few goodies there....

"Must Sell".... No... really?? why else have you got it listed?? just for fun??
"Suit Restoration"... Held together by what little original sheetmetal remains... basically... its a basket case...

Also LOVE (read: Hate) the over use of the word Original...
ie: Original 1976 Ford Falcon 500 (on an XB sedan that was a factory 6cy and now has a wicked 351 with a bonnet scoop, fat rims, BM shifter, etc etc)... Ok - when it left the factory it was a stock Falcon 500 poverty pack... and now its a street car.... what part of it is original??

I do also love the 'one lady owner' or 'one mature owner' type adverts... I doubt there are too many 21 year olds that can afford a high end performance car from the dealer...

I'm not coming over to see the car to kick the tyres.... though I am going to go over it top to bottom, and expect to drive the thing... properly...
