Default Drugged drivers...

Pretty sad indication of our society isn't it?
It would probably explain some dangerous, if not suicidal tendancies in some driver behavour on the road that you see dayin and day out....

Thousands of drugged drivers caught by police
Updated 59 minutes ago

More than 300 people have been caught driving with drugs in their system in the last six months. (ABC Graphics)
Over 2,000 people have been caught driving while under the influence of drugs, since the introduction of random drug testing in Victoria.

Victoria was the first place in the world to introduce random testing five-and-a-half years ago.

Since then, over 120,000 drivers have been tested and 2,000 people have been caught driving under the influence of drugs.

That is a rate of 1 in every 61 drivers.

Eighty-three per cent of those caught had been taking speed.

Cannabis and ecstasy were also detected.

Victoria Police have caught more than 300 people driving under the influence of drugs in the past six months alone.

Figures show 87 per cent of those caught are male and over one-third are under 26-years-old.

Police say that driving while on drugs poses the same risk as driving while drunk.

It is a shame they do not test for prescription drugs as well.

It's pretty dumb and completely dangerous. Just before the district court yesterday was a drugged out woman who on Christmas day ran down a woman who was in her own driveway, and killed the 8 month old unborn child she was carrying. Apparently, it wasn't her first time being caught driving under the influence of drugs. Meanwhile, some legal aid pimp will say she had a rough childhood and therefore only deserves a community sentence order.
These figures you have quoted leave me to believe that as a species we humans are devolving.

I'm inclined to agree with the devolving part, it's part of the new 'softly softly' approach we take with everything. No one wants to accept responsibility and we're expected to feel sorry for people because they had a horrible life prior to the incident - well, as some stage or another you have to accept that the only way your life is going to get any better...is to change it, instead of expecting everyone else to just accept that you're a ninkimpoop...

For hundreds of thousands of years human beings have evolved. We as a species became stronger and smarter as the weak and stupid tended to be killed and therefore did not reproduce as much.

Then, in the middle of the 20th century, a terrible chemical weapon was unleashed on an unsuspecting public.

THE CONTRACEPTIVE PILL

Now humans could control how many children they have without restricting "activities".

But there was a problem.....

Intelligent women remembered to take their pills and have their planned family of 2.5 intelligent children and a dog.

Stupid women forget to take their pills and have 7.8 stupid children, 12 dogs, 4 cats and a parrot.

Due the the exponential increase in the ratio of stupid vs intelligent people and the democaratic systems in place in most of the western world in three generations into this pandemic we are faced with an increase of stupid people in places of power put there by other stupid people.

The signs of stupidity are everywhere not only in the political, legal or media arenas but in just day to day living. (Croc riding anyone?)

We are gradually devolving and will continue to do so until either we wipe ourselves out, get overtaken by another species (indigenous or extraterrestrial) or we split into two groups with one being subserviant to the other.

The forth option, we wake up to ourselves and start evolving again, would require the acceptance that we are not all equal and can never be made that way by lowering standards and tightening restrictions to allow inferior people to do things they are not really capable of.

There is very little chance of that happening.......

All the other species on the planet manage to find the carrier of the idiot gene, and kill it. Except for humans. We nurture it, raise it, cherish it, and protect it. Even our crocs won't kill it.

These figures are alarming. It shows how wrong we have it in Queensland. Our Police are the lowest paid, we spend a fortune on revenue cameras, and I don't even know if they do drug testing here. I have never seen it.

Some years ago (it may have been 7-8) a young female P-plater driving through Surfers Paradise lost control of her car, mounted a footpath and drove through a heap of pestrians. From memory, a small child was killed, and a few people were injured. It was revealed that she had been inhaling butane moments before driving. She lost her license for 3 years, but I don't remember if she got a suspended sentence or a ridiculously short sentence.

She got of lightly due to some sob story. Anyway, not long after she was again in trouble with law, and again getting nothing more than a slap on the wrist. The problem is that while we have do-gooders, and a judicial that panders to these idiots, the problem will only get worse.

For those of you that enjoyed flappists post i highly recommend a book called 'Freakonomics', explores a few similar theories and is a highly entertaining read, anyone you come across who has read it will agree im sure.

For a lighter take on the subject the movie Idiocracy is gold.

Aplogies for the thread detour, as you were...

And that's exactly what came to my mind when browsing the posts

Although, there is plenty of other media that touches on this subject.

Being confronted with this on a frequent basis is rather tiring, sadly, always being left asking 'why'. Seeing as the ball did indeed start rolling a long time ago now, fingers crossed that reset button otherwise seen as the collision, happens sooner than later...

Between being selfish and apathetic, most humans really aren't doing much to help prevent this 'epidemic' (or whatever you'd wish to call it).

They tried the feeble minded laws before the pill was introduced as the link below mentions earlier dates.
But after world wars economies appear to thrive better and people pitch in to make growth and prosperity

These figures you have quoted leave me to believe that as a species we humans are devolving.
Devolving is a very good way of putting it LTD. It seems that the more freedoms that we have awarded ourselves (especially since the 60's) the worse the problem becomes. Everybody seems to know their rights ok but how many know their responsibilities that come with those rights???

And it is just not the users, even some legislators really don’t seem to want to take a responsible attitude for the real drug problems that has created this "devolving" (of what could ultimately become a human sub specious) either. I can't believe that they have softened over the years as well. The fallout of all this is that harm minimisation has become the new order over the last 20 years or so and a lot of people think that this type of behaviour it is ok now. In S.A. I have heard people say that is legal to grow three plants??? WTF??? It has never been legal to grow any plants in S.A., just decriminalised (another legislative golden milestone). This is why people now have such contempt for the drug laws. When I was a kid it was just classified illegal period.

I know some people think that drugs heighten your awareness, but this is only in your little world and cannot factor in anything that you can't control such as other drivers mistakes slippery conditions etc. I love the ad when the surgeon says "don't worry I am more careful when I am out of it" (after a toke on a bong) or when the pilot says "relax it makes me more alert" after a finishing a line (what do you think when you see this ad LTD?) because to the rest of the evolving human race this ad says it all.

Going by the police figures, 1 in 61 drivers are drug stoned, so to see how bad this problem is, see how long it takes to count 61 cars going in the opposite direction on the way home tonite. How would you like the one that is stoned to respond to an emergency around you? I share the same view for drink drivers as well.

Either some people are just plain stupid or refuse to get it or they just do not care at all.

Just read your post flappist and it now explains-

a) the significance of the 60's
b) where some of those legislators may have actually come from

Brilliant!

I agree with pretty much everything you've said there, but I think I can detect an attitude towards drugs which I dont agree with.

The important thing I think everyone needs to realise is, people are to blame - not the drugs. I've had my fair share of illegal drugs over the years, there, I've said it, flame away. To paraphrase the late great comedian Bill Hicks, I never killed anyone never hurt anyone never beat anyone never robbed anyone never lost a job house car or girl. I just had a real good time! And definitely never got behind the wheel of a car.

My point is, people are either responsible, sensible and intelligent, or they're not. The problems drugs are causing in society these days is a complex issue made even more so by the availability and legality of the most dangerous and harmful drug of them all - alcohol.

Drugs are most certainly not responsible for this devolving phenomena some have noticed, and I definitely believe is happening. Drugs are the scapegoat, stupid people are the real issue.

Speaking of;

Couldn't agree more! Need to add a few more undesirable genes to the list as well but thats for another day...

Its not a very PC position, but our modern society with all our technology, health care systems/abilities, welfare systems etc etc, is breeding a stupider, feebler, and less able human race. Pretty much just as Flappist said, although I dont think the contraceptive pill has played much of a part.

flappist you are pretty much bang on the money but lets not forget that these forgetful women are sleeping with the biggest dropkick they can find on a friday/saturday night so those nights become about guys trying to prove who is the biggest dropkick. Maybe if these forgetful women had kids to guys with a brain this wouldn't be so bad.

Flappist,
Good read there
But i think you forgot one "major"issue in the breeding program !!!
GOVERNMENT BABY BONUS
The true extent of bogans breeding or maybe cross breeding wont become relevant for at least 12-13 years
Then we will see some 2 headed people (or maybe 3 if the breeding/cross breeding worked well )

since the article says 'ecstasy and cannabis were also detected'. They are probably talking mostly about amphetamines.

In another report the use of "speed" was compared with being 0.05...

On the otherhand the US Airforce thinks amphetamines (uppers and downers) in otherwords "speed" benifets pilots, see link.

maybe if the gene pool can't be modified, the non revenue raising governments might consider swapping speed camera vans who are checking everyones speed to vans capable of checking licence, rego, drug & alchol testing. If everyone was tested this would certainly reduce your speed for a bit, & should go a long way to removing many of these idots from the roads, therefore making them much safer for those who do the right thing.

Im sorry, I thought all the new mobile cameras on ford tezza's had just solved all our road toll problems by taking happy snaps.

Im sure they will have this sorted out pretty quick, with a new macquarie bank version of the tezza that does scratch and sniff on your car as it drives past and takes your photo to mail you a fine in a few weeks saying your car was stoned and a danger to others.

Then they can 'release' another few hundred coppers thus saving the state govt even more

Im going to sit in the corner and be cynical now.

PS - I support the stoning (with rocks) of all drug drivers.

Jesus... Im agreeing with Flappist.

Bogan males and females are definately on the rise.
One could say that the link from alcohol and drug abuse (which is on the extreme rise) is partly to blame to.
When I was of the niteclubbing age I never saw any females fighting on the streets.
Now all we ever see on the news is more and more girls punching each others lights out, whether it is at school or in some drunken binge at a niteclub.

Bogan males are everywhre here in Townsville, its like some bad experiement (I was born here so i have noticed the change).
Im not kidding when I say their foreheads look almost like ... some missing link from the gene pool gone wrong.
Some of these people serious dont want to better themselves or educate themselves.

One lovely female last year here had driven through a red light and run into a car killing her toddler instantly. The 2yr old was not strapped in and was apparently in the front seat!

A number of times in the past few years several mums have been caught drink driving while picking up or dropping off their kids from school. One mum was caught at 8am drunk! And they were high end readings above .15

Another drunk mum got her 16yr P plater daughter to drive her home a few yrs ago and drove into a raging flooded causeway. She drove around the ROAD FLOODED signs and barricades!!! The car was swept 100m downstream and mum who was highly intoxicated had to be rescued while the daughter had swum to safety.
A week later some moron in tiny little 4 cyclinder car did the same thing!
Seemingly he also drove around the signs...

Sigh...

The problem is people don't think of others on the road. If you want to be stupid, and run into a tree and die that's your prerogative. But when you hit someone, and they pay the price for your stupidity, well thats ludicrously stupid. Not to mention our services that have to deal with the crap they have to because of these idiots, I can't imagine some of the horrors our police services etc have seen.

Devolving, I second that.
