Anyone going out to this?

Gotta say, I'm loving it so far, and needless to say little work has been done today

I did a drive through on Wednesday night and it looked a good track but boy is it bumpy!! I know its supposed to be a street circuit and all, but its gonna be interesting with the little dips in the roads as well...

Should be a good race!!

coming into turn 9 has been very interesting.

They had been doing quite a bit of work to level out a dip in the road, but even after all that, you hear the cars unload under brakes quite severley. could make for some interesting moments late in the race

Yeah, i'm going with my brother tomorrow. Looking forward to the action, noise and atmosphere. The concerts after the racing will be good too.

PS I would still rather the money spent on permanent facilities, but the racing is getting plenty of coverage on all of the TV channels which is a rare thing.

Again, I speak on behalf of the people of Perth...

JEALOUS!

Im just watching the mini's - Noticed there are plenty of repaired pot holes and the cars seem to be bouncing a lot, if it was 10 years in the planning like they said you would have thought they'd at least repair whole sections of the roads not just do patch which is terrible for international standard racing.
But I guess the Track Engineers must have given it the tick of approval.

the pot holes are things such as massive light poles etc and man covers, plus also temporary bollards for other events.

There are a few "different" types of surfaces which I'm sure the drivers would rather not have.

Then again, makes it good viewing for us

My brother and I went down from Newcastle yesterday. What a great day. Hard to see too much action.

At one stage we were within 2.5 metres of the edge of the track. This was between a building and the rail station on the opposite side of the track. The noise was phenomenal. You could see the non usual patrons, some were just about ducking for cover from the noise

Plenty to see and do other than just cars. Pit complex area, driver signings, car displays, historic racing Mustangs etc, BMX/Skateboard park demonstrations, kids play areas and entertainers, Harley Davidson tent had a real bike dyno drag racing shootout, plus the concerts.

Lastly, crowd figures were 51,000 Friday, 72,000 Saturday. Telecast on TV said today a 3 day crowd of 183,850 people!

I worked there the 3 days, plus the concerts.

Phillyc, I know the place you're talking about. Even I was scrambling for the earplugs there, and I've been about a metre from the racing line for the whole 3 days.

Had a visit from some of the drivers at the official afterparty in Acer Arena. Got a hug from Jason Bright too

I though the viewing was crap and won't be back. Racing was okay but too much damage for anyone a few mm offline ie corner 8.

BTW, why do the utes sound like compared to the Fujistus? And yes I understand different engine and headers of the Fujitsus but some of the utes sound bloody awefull and really disappointing

If you spent any decent amount of time at ground level there, I feel sorry for your ears!
Up higher might have been a bit better though.

Saw the FPV-Tickford club display there too. Looked good guys!

Well, that short straight with the hard acceleration, then deceleration was fantastic for noise. Lots of noise pops on upshift and bangs on downshifts with the snarling angry big-camshaft exhaust note in between.

By far the loudest noise was at that part of the track. I lasted about 20 laps.
