As per local Gold Coast TV news last night. Many cool old classic bikes including a world speed record holder up for auction from private collector.

How do you get "World's fastest Indian" from that?

New Zealander Burt Munro was a motorcycle land-speed record holder.
In 1967, Munro coaxed his beloved streamlined Indian to 183.58 mph. That set a record in the category of "streamlined motorcycles under 1,000cc." To qualify, he made a one-way run of 190.07 mph, (190 mph = 305.77536 kph) the fastest ever officially recorded speed on an Indian scout, ergo, World's fastest Indian? |

I used the title used on the TV news. Sorry to misinform. Yes I am aware of Burt's achievements & am not trying to belittle what he or others have done. I only put this up to let others know of the opportunity to purchase some pretty cool old stuff - no I am not on the pay roll.
I believe the title was referring to this bike: Lot: 106 Vintage Motorcycle - 'Indian 8 Valve Racer' - 61 cubic inch, 500cc overhead valve - Engine#: A61-5 - An extremely rare, factory produced motor - Featuring a special loop type frame, built by Jack Morris of the 'Rhodes Motorcycle Company, Melbourne' - The engine in this bike (but not the machine) is renowned to have once held the world speed record of 125MPH - This record was set by Paul Anderson at Sellick's Beach, South Australia in 1925. Also, in the late 1920s, Sid Gower (Rhodes Motors Professional Sidecar Racer) installed the engine into the current frame and set the 90MPH lap record at the Melbourne Motordrome. A unique 'Indian' with a rich Australian and American historical significance. Includes a quantity of paperwork relating to provenance and history. This is an exceptionally rare opportunity to acquire a 'world class' motorcycle. Min/Max estimate: 80000.00-100000.00 Condition: Very Good |
