Default Feral Utes

I was just wondering what some of your opinions are on feral utes (big bulbar, driving lights, aerials, mud flaps), particularly AU feral utes.

This is because I plan to turn my AU ute into a feral ute, and was wondering what people think.

Cheers

PS. Some reasons I’m doing it: when done well the utes look great, and they stand out really well in a crowd

I think feral utes are...well...feral. If you work on a property and need the bull bars, gun racks and caterpillar dust mud flaps going the full width of the back, then fair enough. But in the city? They are just a joke.

Why not just by an RTV?

Agree with what MADNC_8 said.

Do whatever you want, don't worry about what everyone else thinks.
Atleast it would look a tad decent, being an AU. :nutsycuck

Nah mate love the feral ute thing and with the AU you need a big bullbar on the front to hide the front of them ,but in the city don't go the big mud flap thing and they fall of with too many speed hups but it's the stickers that make a feral ute and the dents too
But good luck with it

IMO they are just plain gheeeyyyy...

If you want a truck.. go buy one!

... on a nother note..

my older brother turned his falcon ute into a feral ute, and it actually looked pretty damn tough.. :hihi:

there is a 05 ss up the road fitted with a nasty bull bar, side plates which could slice ur ankles off, more flood lights than a football stadium, XXXX sticks all over the rear tailgage. Bundy all over the hood and roof, mud flaps of a D9 dozor, exhaust pipes shooting to space and a redneck owner to boot

I wrecked a perfectly good ute by hitting a 6foot roo at 130kph in the top end, so i decided that was not happening again, i got a 5 post bullbar, and it has paid for itself 3 times already. It is certainly not a feral ute. Feral utes try way too hard, especially when they spend 99% of their lives in the city!
Queen Street Cowboys as i say!

I only have the huge bullbar cause of the damage i did with my first roo! I had purchased a Nudge bar to put on, but after that, i sold it, and bought the bullbar.
Until Ford bring out a factory bullbar thats worth looking at, that won't just fold back onto the panels if you hit a bird, i will stick to my 5 poster!

Check out Team Poly's Website too, they designed the Smartbar, which in my mind, is just as good as a big 5 poster.

Totally agree. They look great. You don't see too many of them either.

Bullbars are great where there are lots of bulls and other assorted animals that could easily become road kill. Not for city driving though IMO.

But as others have said, it's up to you as it's your car.

All the best with it.

Probably going a bit over the top here, not trying to be pick anything, but what the hell do some of you guys have against people in the country? Sure their taste in cars might not align with yours, but how can you make judgements of their character based on what they drive? I've had the fortune to have grown up in a mix of both the city and country, and people out the inland way I have found are more welcoming, hard working, respectable, and down to earth people, rather than the multitude of white trash that tend to accumulate in the cities. Laugh at their differing taste sure, but calling them bogans/wanting to bash them etc is uncalled for. /rant.

Its your ute mate, do what you think looks good. If your want my opinion on how to make it a feral, 5 poster alloy bullbar, twin 6" spotties on the roof plus smaller 4" on the bullbar, and alloy sideskirts (pollished stone flectors look good). Top it off with light truck tires and dark tint. A set of pacemaker comp series extractors, with a redback twin muffler set up will give a nice meaty exhaust note.

You just said exactley what you described in your post that we did. You call us city folk white trash. What, and we can't call those that drive those utes Bogan Cowboys. Fair's fair.

The problem is they all turn their utes into the same feral trash. I don't really care how hard these farmers work. I still pay for there produce, and my taxes still pay for "When times are tough on the land" assistance program's. I wish when times were tuff in the city, the government would bail me out.

I saw an AU2/3 XR6 ute today. They cut out the front bar, left the light secton and put a big bull bar o it. 3 Aerial's, cat mud flaps and spot lights. The bullbar had a wire mesh in it. QLD plates. It also had the stock standard sticker in the rear window of the buffalo horns. There was also the various pub stickers and B&S on the car as well.

It was a pity they had their windows up. I'm sure they'd be listening to Adam brand or lee kernagahan. The driver even had his cowboy hat on. Only thing missing was his flanny. Bogan cowboy's. Ferals.

Im not a huge fan of feral utes, but alot of people dont like my taste in cars either. So I say enjoy your car, do what you want to it, and if people dont like it, well that's just too bad now, isnt it?

People are goin on about city/country areas.
As a point of note, i live in the outskirts of melbourne, at yarrambat (further out from greensborough), and this year will be going to uni in hawthorn so i will be going into the city almost daily.

And just when I thought this place couldn't get anymore one eyed.

Sure the utes look a bit silly to us and we poke fun at them, but at the end of the day, they can do what they want to their cars, listen to what music they want, dress how they want and drink whatever they want. Doesn't make them any less of a person.

Well said. The "bogans" that everyone is pointing out would proberbly laugh at us, seeing that we detail our cars each week, and are never quite satissfied needing to do mods.

You're exactly right, was a bit of hypocritism on my part. It didn't come out the way I intended and I appologise.

The problem is that when a farmer goes bust, the economy suffers. Instead of growing our own food, we have to import the amount that the farmer formerly produced. In most cases, its cheaper to pay out the farmer rather than import foreign goods.

I have a mate form uni whom has a feral ute, top bloke whom grew up on a property just out of Wondoan. He dresses most of the time like you describe, except he tends to listen to Dr Dre, Snoop Dog, and at times Eminem. He's currently studying a Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering at UQ, and is always well dressed, groomed and well versed in social etiquite. Hardly the commonly described Bogan/Feral. For all you know the guy in the ute could have been a physicist or a heart sergeon. Your applying typical steriotypes to a person whom you've never met, frankly its no different then racism.

Sorry all for highjacking this thread, I'm just sick to death of bulls**t steriotypes.
