removal of rear bar

Not too sure where to post this so mods feel free to move it.
As some of you know I plan on getting a new body kit mid march. I'm hoping to get it painted then fit the kit myself. I've removed the spoiler, Bonnet, and front bar as a test to see if I would be able to and all went well. Thanks heaps for the instructions on aufalcon.com on how to remove the front bar aswell.
My question is does anyone know how to remove the rear bar as this one looks a bit more confusing.
any help would be greatly appreciated

I had the same problem when i tried to do a test remove of my rear bar. JC and Falkeen are the ones to talk too. Apparently there is some special tool you need. No idea on what its called.

I figured out how to do this for any that i interested. It's pretty much the same as the front bar except you have to drill out a few pop rivets under the mudflaps and the ones attatched to the fording plate.

No!!!! Don't drill out the pop rivets behind the mudguards. All you have to do is remove the plastic screws that hold the mudguard inner onto the mudguard, then undo the two 13mm nuts (one on each side) that are in behind the plastic mudguard inner. By removing the pop rivets, you have actually removed the bumper bracket from the bumper, instead of undoing the nut on the bracket and removing it and the bumper from the car!

Drilling out the pop rivets from the fording plate is the right thing to do.

Oh well, nothing a few self tappers won't fix.

On the subject of those 13mm nuts, I tried to get my hand into that space, but found on 1 side, there was the exhaust which blocked the access to the nut. I couldn't be bothered trying the otherside.

With this rivetts, arn't they the plastic plugs. You can get them from ford for about 20 cents each.

Bucky, the exhaust should go nowhere near that nut - and even I can get my hand in that space, plus a long 13mm socket and rachet! There are both plastic rivets/screws and metal rivets. The metal rivets are not there for show. They hold the bracket to the bar!

i always thought putting body kits on was an art, like thats why you get ones that look like pooh and ones that look well done? im thinking of getting a kit, and if its easy to do yourself and make it look good then ill save myself some money! let us know how it goes.

Taking the R-rim (factory) bumpers off is easy, as they are very flexible and you can pull and twist them a fair bit without breaking them or cracking the paint. putting fibreglass ones on is a different story. they don't flex muxh, and if you pull too hard they can break and/or chip the paint. Other than that, it's all pretty straight forward.

Oh, and my avatar is just a copy of a few others on here - not a good one, but a copy nonetheless.

I think I know where you mean, but I think you misunderstand exactly where I mean! The bolt is further up and is easily accessible - the bit I think you are talking about is actually part of the IRS suspension.
