Cheers. Yep fixed it now! Surely over 100,000 new rangers and everest's world wide without problem would be sufficient to show the one as an anomaly?
We'll wait and see what the investigation says.
Either way it seems that Ford is on the way back with 3 cars in in the final 5.

Yeah, even if it turns out to be one off it's just maga bad timing for the new car to catch fire during a review / test.

Three Fords made the cut as finalists for Car of the Year:

Ford Everest Trend
Ford Ranger XLT 4x4
Ford Focus Trend
Mazda MX-5 1.5GT
Kia Sorento SLi CRDi

Plus won:

Best Small Car – Ford Focus Trend
Best Family Car – Ford Mondeo Trend
Best Performance Car under $60k – Ford Focus ST
Best Ute- Ford Ranger XLT
Best 4WD – Ford Everest Trend

A very good result for Ford.

Compared to what? a Territory, Prado, Fortuner, Hyundai santa fe, kia sorrento, Patrol, Grand Cherokee?
You may want to check out the RRP of those too.

Quality cars , but why aren't they selling, price ? Dealers ? service ? Lack of advertising? Length of warranty ? Must be some reason why sales are so bad. Yeah , I know I bought an i20 , that was on price. Ford should be having a good look at why cars aren't selling. If it wasn't for Ranger, Ford sales would be non-existent..

My Ranger was in for service at my Ford dealer in WA this week and they had 4 of the Everest in the pre delivery bay. When I asked if they were demos, the tech said they were being delivered that day to customers.

When I picked up my Ranger from the service bay, one of the owners was picking his up and the other three were gone. They had another 6 to get ready for delivery by mid next week.

whilst over on the News web site the Kia Sorento wins their car of the year award, CarsGuide, Ranger in the list of contenders, Everest not even in the field?

And before anyone says it "Joshua Dowling" filed to story on the news.com.au web site, or is that because the Everest is missing due to the one that was burned recently by the special GMH prepared Commodore and fuel used by JD to burn out the competition! :-) And for those who haven't seen the joke, look at post #28 http://www.fordforums.com.au/showpos...0&postcount=28

From : Drive COTY.."The story of Drive Car of the Year in 2015 could be subtitled, Ford: A New Hope.

It has been a rough few years for the blue oval brand - not only has it suffered a decline in sales it has had to endure the negativity surrounding its decision to end local production in 2016.

2015 Drive Car of the Year overall winner

52 cars tested but only one can be crowned Drive's outright winner.

But as our testing has discovered, if you look past those problems you find a car company with a lot to offer. Ford has invested heavily in updating its range as it transitions to a future as a fully-imported line-up.

The result is a very strong family of cars. Ford was represented in six categories at Car of the Year in 2015 and won five - Best Small Car (Ford Focus Trend), Best Family Car (Ford Mondeo Trend), Best Performance Car under $60,000 (Ford Focus ST), Best Ute (Ford Ranger XLT) and Best 4WD (Ford Everest Trend).

If that wasn't enough, three of those five - Everest, Ranger and Focus - ended up among our five finalists for the overall title of Drive Car of the Year."

Hard to see the focus beating a VF 2 ssv redline for performance car under 60k.

Surprised to see it win. I actually thought the new gen Mazda MX5 or Volvo XC90 were the front runners. Good on you Ford.

Weird to think a 2.4 tonne ladder chassis 4wd winning car of the year!

Three Trends actually!!

I was looking at the run-down on the current Mondeo the other day and I was impressed by the amount of equipment it has, to the point that it is probably making the entry price suffer by comparison to some competitors where you would have to move up a level to match it.

It is also interesting that the Focus won so late in the model cycle.

Focus Trend is right up there with the best offers in the segment . Larger than most , great drivetrain ( finally got rid of poweshift) ,great handling and well priced. It has some negatives too , heavy means relatively thirsty ,they got rid of a diesel and no wagon version on offer . It should sell in big numbers as segment is booming .

What are you on about?? According to this forum all competitors cars all sell for under $10k have a gizillion bits of tech, never break down...but if Ford would put the car on TV (during a show that they watch of course) then they would sell squillions!!

I've noticed many people who say that have never bought a new car in their life and don't have much of an idea of what new cars cost.
Or at least never bought new in the category of the car they claim is over priced

The Titanium seams to be a bit exxy, but the Trend price seams to be on point.

Erm, isn't that the point of being in business? To make money and profit? You have to always look at how to make profit on just about every activity, otherwise you're not going to be in business for long.

How is it any different to other makes doing the same thing? I.e. Mercedes and BMW manufacturer in a number of other countries and still charge the same price. It is called maximising your profit.

If the market doesn't agree then sales and revenue will show that.

Maybe not german, but Landrover Disco is in that pricing ballpark, and it is probably a far better 4wd.

I think the Everest is an awesome 4WD, If I could afford one I would buy the Trend me thinks, Unfortunately way out of my price range.
