Has any body tried United's Ethanol blended fuels that are now available here in Tassie ?

I havent used them on the XR8. I used to use Shell premium all the time, till BP bought in the Ulitmate. Now i use that all the time. I think from memory that the 'newer' generation of falcons are able to run on 10% Ethanol blended fuels and not have it cause any engine problems. But yeah, dunno if i would want to try it tho.

I use the stuff in my 260+RWKW turbo EF. Never had a problem with it. I would actually say its a better fuel then shell optimax..

ive been using it in my ea with no problems as yet.

I hear it turns to jelly?? Is that true??? Maybe a short term fix but will it cost the pocket down the track.!

When it first came out, about 3 years ago I filled 2 jars with petrol, one with the ethanol blend, the other with standard petrol. In both jars I put some; fuel hose from my MK1 Cortina(1966) some new efi hose, brass fittings, steal fittings, some plastic fuel lines, and a few other random bits.
Apart from the ethanol blend looking a little more yellow then the standard petrol there is no effect on the contents at all, and no jelly.. |

According to Ford (call 13FORD) all falcons after 1986 can run E10 fuel.
I've been using E10 for 18 months and the car hasn't had any probs. |

Not sure if it is placebo effect but I find that my car ran harder (better) when using BOOST 98 or PLUS 95. This was the same for both the BOSS 260 and the Windsor 5.6L stroker.

Think it had some bad press years ago when it first came out and died off, which has seemed to stick.
But the fact that you don't see endless stories on ACA & TT about the dangers, it must be doing ok this time round. (Note: i dont actually watch or condone watchin ACA :P) I only just started runnin it in my VX 5.7l, runs the same (if not slightly less) fuel consumption stats as regular premium did. 32 Litres from Burnie to Hobart. |
