Default Any seat upgrades for an AU?

Hey guys and girls,

I've had a few serious back issues lately, and after driving the Fairlane often, I've found that it's not helping my back pain, infact making it worse. If I drive the BA Ghia with the XR seats, they curve around which makes it a lot more comfortable, unlike my current Fairlane seats that are pretty much flat...

Anyway, back to the subject, any bolt in (or close to) aftermarket seats on the market to suit the AU? I've really contemplated just getting some more BA XR seats, but the rails are a massive issue so yeah...

Any help would be appreciated!

Maybe try XR seats in the Fairlane? I had considered fitting BA seats to my AU3 ute but apparently they won't fit without alot of modifications to the rails and would require an engineers certificate so I stuck with my AU seats.

I'm close to saying bugger it (for lack of nicer wording), and just drilling 4 holes, reinforcing them, and bolting leather BA XR seats down using BA rails and new high tensile bolts...

but thought i'd see if there's any aftermarket options. AU XR seats aren't much better either IMO, otherwise I'd just drive the AU XR6 day to day...

still needs engineering mate, I did this in my xf, and needed engineering, any change of seat that does not use factory bolt position requires eng cert, no worth it, youd be better of trying to have a custom trimmer match the foams to au seats

Yeah, I know it'd need engineering, but in saying that My EF is done the same way with the BA seats and that's passed rego a few times now.

I bolstered up the lumbar support in our old Pulsars driver's seat back by adding a strategically placed wedge of high density foam.
I have also re-bolstered the seat side supports in my AU XR without altering the fabric or frame.
I used to be an upholsterer in a former life so it was easy for me to do it. Speak to a local motor trimmer for advice if you don't want to tackle it yourself.
cheers
Bill.
