Default AU 111 UTE...Very Fast left blinker???

Hi Guys. Bought an AU ute and the left blinker is going at a million miles an hour......I know this is a usual sign of one blown bulb....but not in this case, as all the blinker lights are flashing, just three times as fast as they should.
Its not the flasher unit as I've swapped it out for a known good one. (handy to have a spare full car to work with)

Any ideas much appreciated

Cheers Keith

So the front, side quarter and rear lights are working?

Putting it out there in case this has some effect too... is the cluster indicator also flashing?

Try progressively disconnecting the indicator lamps to see if there's any change in behaviour. Maybe you have a dodgy bulb.

Yeah, all lights including cluster are working.

It was after I fitted an aluminium tray and I remember that on the passenger side I "commoned" the earth wire of the blinker with the earth from the taillight, at a terminal block, as the actual light fitting that was attached to the tray had a common earth, so only one earth source needed. I wouldn't mind betting this is somehow interfering with the flasher circuit on that side.
Will try disconnecting the original left blinker earth from use, as I did with the right side, (which is working fine)
Will update tomorrow.

Nope, that wasn't it!
Connected each of the two individually and there was no change

Still looking......

Check and clean your trailer plug connector if you have one, has happened to me before.

Hi. Are they LED tail lights (and blinker), If so they will need a load resistor across the lamp. Or it may just have the wrong globe in the l/h/r lamp. Cheers MD

It has no towbar, therefore no trailer plug, but it DOES have a trailer plug connector as part of the loom....

Will check this and report back

They aren't LEDs, but thanks, I will swap the bulbs over with the (working) right side and report back.

Yep, a fast blinker is a sign of more current draw than rated (and lowered resistance in circuit). IE to higher wattage globe

Huge thanks to all who replied

Problem is now sorted (after a few false starts)

It WAS a bulb of the wrong wattage in the rear blinker that caused it (now replaced)

Thanks again guys, Keith.

So you had a 5w bulb insted of a 21?; that'll do it.
