Default Jewellery Number Question

I have 2 bits of jewellery here, one is stamped 925, the other is 999.. can someone tell me what type of silver they are, and any other numbers and their meanings?

Thanks - James

yeh i think that just means the % of silver content.. 925 being 92.5% and 999 being 99.9%....

I'll quote you because your right. :P

925 means 92.5% pure silver, so there are a few other minerals in there and they usually last longer.
999 means 99.9% pure silver so it's pretty much pure silver but wont last as long if you wear it often.

Would that be the same for gold? I have a 9-carat gold bracelet, witrh 375 stamped on it. so it would be 37.5% (9/24)

Thats always handy to know

Yep, that's right.
375 = 9CT gold.
