Default W.A's new speed camera

W.A. has been so far behind the eastern states when it comes to speed cameras, red light cameras and still allowing us to have radar detectors.

But it seems they have caught up with the eastern states with the introduction of the Vitronic Poliscan Laser Camera. Actually I think Victoria is the only other state to have had them introduced.

Its already made a name of itself buy catching 3000 people in a span of 7 hours on the Kwinana freeway - due to it been able to span 4 lanes of traffic. Can also get you from behind too.

Be interested in knowing how our radar detectors compete against them. And also how accurate they are in picking your car out of a bunch of cars.

Jeez.... 3000 people in 7 hours.... I know we drive like nutters over here anyway, but I think that would be pretty much everyone that got caught!

i think they set it up heading south just after the narrows where everyone does 100 even though it is an 80 zone. like shooting fish in a barrel really with that location.

they really need to put the melbourne style speed sensors at the start and end of the tunnel (calculates how long you take to get throught tunnel, and then average your speed) to catch all the tossers who tunnel-blast. tunnel-blasting is a thing that is very common at night times in perths only city tunnel. it is all try hard tossers with no regard for laws, authority and they all deserve to give the government their money in fines. the sooner the better, i cant stand going throught the tunnel at normal speed and seeing a loser who thinks he is at bathurst on a public road growling his engine in the tunnel while no doubt masturbating his minature *****.

Wow ... they caught a lot of speeders.
Does it have the warning signs like NSW????
If it did ... sucked in to all those caught.

It'll only be a matter of time till more and more pop up.

I am always suspicious of Police and figures, when they come to justifying revenue cameras. 3000 people in 7 hours=140 cars a minute>or 2.3 cars a second..mmmm sounds rubbery too me.

Radar detecters are also now illegal in WA too.

They make good paperweights.....

edit: my bad, they're not illegal.......yet.

Was the 140 cars per minute quoted?

3,000 people in 7 hours -> 429 per hour -> 7 per minute -> .12 per second, or 1 every 8.4 seconds.

At night maybe, but when was the last time there was a major accident in the tunnel.

During the day too many people crawl throught there at 50kph, and don't get me started on merging. I've had cars come to a compleate stop on the freeway becasue they don't know how to merge.

Cheers

Good, I'm sick of having to re-overtake the 90 in a 80 zone, 90 in a 100 zone morons. Need one on the other side heading north near Leederville station also. That is even worse.

'Ang about. That article is dated OCT 2010!

Does it take that long for Sandgropers to get around to reading a paper?
