Default Chasing a refund from road-side assist?

Hi all,
Last month I had to sign up for NRMA road side assist on the side of the road and I'm now buying a new car (FGX XR8 that comes with RSA) so I was wondering if I can get any refund?
What I had to purchase was the following:
Classic care = $110
Join on the road = $139
Membership = $55

I understand that I may not get much back, because I did sign up on the side of the road, but surely I should get some of the "Classic care" and "Membership" back?

I rang them and apparently there's computer issues so I was told to ring back tomorrow. The person who served me (who sounded quite young) wasn't really sure.

Keep it, the NRMA RSA package you bought is far better than the one that comes with the new car.

Really? I thought Ford just called (and paid) the NRMA to come and help you out?

They may pay NRMA to come out and help, but at what level of cover?

I had a similar problem, bought a block of chocolate, ate just one square and wouldn't you know it, Easter came around. Bloody Coles wouldn't refund me on the barely opened pack.

In Queensland you get an associate membership with the RACQ and the vehicle..I have an i20 and pay $40 to keep Plus Care ,Hyundai pays the difference. Check if NRMA does the same ?? Ultra Care is $72 plus car companies payment..

You say that you had to sign up for RSA on the side of the road about a month ago. Why? Have you had any benefit already for your short term membership? Maybe you have received value for your membership already? If we had more information we would be in a better position to judge what is fair.

From NRMA

Cancelling Your Membership and/or
Subscription Packages
You may cancel Your Membership and/or Your
Subscription Package at any time. A cancelled
Subscription Package means that the Nominated Vehicle
will no longer receive Roadside Assistance and other
Membership entitlements. You will not be entitled to
a refund except in specific circumstances (see section
13.16 Your rights - Australian Consumer Law). If You
cancel a Joint Membership, You cannot re-join on a
Joint Membership. If all the Subscription Packages on a
Membership are cancelled, the Membership itself will not
be cancelled (see section 13.10 When does a Subscription
Package lapse and a Membership Expire?). Only a person
named on the Membership may request the cancellation
of their Membership or Subscription Package.

Do you have another vehicle? You can transfer it to another car free of charge I believe.

Not worth cancelling for the small refund, and there may be advantages if you stay covered with NRMA.

Maybe you should ask Ford what discount you'd get for the XR8 if you purchase it without the roadside assist? To me that would be a better option.

When I had my FG serviced with roadside assist included, I didn't worry about having RACV cover as well, as I knew who I would ring if I needed it.
