Hi there,
I am having some big problem with my beloved old 1985 telstar and I do not have much idea about cars. I am getting big clicking noise from the engine and it is getting worse every time I accelerate. I am not getting much race at the moment either. The road side assistant told me the car is now running on 3 cylinders instead of four. He showed me that even after taking out one of the spark plug there is not much difference in the engine running. He further advised it could as simple as changing the spark plug or as complex as compressor (not sure) problem within the engine. So wanted some advice from anybody. I appreciate your help Thanks beforehand. Dave |

have a mechanic do a compression test on each cylinder
if the readings are above 150psi that should be good replace the plugs leads and distributor cap if needed the next clicking may he the valves need adjusting

Sounds similar to the 87 TS Telstar I had. It had around 180k on it when the valve guide went.
