There is no real advantage in using a New BILLET to form a 4 litre cam. It's also hard to find one for an AU falcon. The next thing is that billetts come raw and need a lot of machining, which is easy. Most people forget however that billets still need to be HARDENED on the cam follower surfaces which is both expensive and necessary.

The Hardenening process is one that many peole ignore.

There are pro's and cons for unsing billetts on 4 litres.

We choose not to use billets as the hardening process is hard and expensive for our customers, and by regrinding cams to a select size we can keep hardness of the lobes to a miximum.

would be cheaper to drive to Melb, have Brenden fit and tune the reground cam and then drive back mate.

wouldn't a billet be more reliable and easier to install on an au .
most cam shops will do a billet grind for $400 ,plus what jmm want for there secret ingreidients .
i'd definately pay a bit extra for a billet .

regrinds are much cheaper than billet cam... i don't see why you would bother going billet considering what the price difference would be, it's not difficult to shim the lash adjusters to the right height

Dont regrinds get hardened anyway? These shims seem to be a never ending story.Tickticktick. which equates to loss of lift and power.Somethings buggy with them. The product is good but that rattle :

why bother with bilets?

shims aren't that hard to do just a bit fussy but even billets have to have the correct HLA clearnces and that means at least one shim anyway.

Whats the big deal?

Mine rattles for a microsecond on startup only and i always reckoned that was beacuse of the HD springs not the liftrers with too many shims.
