Default Used Car Sale in Queensland

G'day all,

Just a little peeved tonight.

A while back ( 2 months ) I bought a used car from a dealer ( no warranty ) and found the head to be cracked after one month. On further inspection I have found wiring and the Speedometer not performing to the Code of Practice which Approved Inspection Stations are supposed to follow as its law.

Since the purchase the only modifications are the addition of a CD Player and thats it.

What are my rights ! ?

The roadworthy on the speedo for one would have been dodgy, as it hasnt been tampered with at all since the purchase. It is approx 20kms out ... so at 100kms it reads 80 kms etc ....

Some may say well thats cheap insurance not to get booked for speeding, but the fact still remains the car wasnt roadworthy at sale.

I love some input guys ...

Cheers

Is the speedo error due to different wheel/tyres fitted from what the car was manufactured with?

Did the dealer do the roadworthy, or did a seperate business??

The car is a 76' Escort with a 2 litre motor.

The wheels are of standard size and the Dealer did the roadworthy, not an independant business.

Cheers

This will be a tuff one to put on them... I would hit them up first and see what they say and if they don,t give a sh1t then I'd take It further......I don't think they would want to loose their roadworthy license.
