Default Easter Petrol Price Rise

Drove past my local BP this morn and they had ULD for 149.9 - This arvo it was up to 157.9.

Anyone elses local servo jack up the price for this long weekend?

I "nearly" paid 167.9 for 95 yesterday. In the end I paid 154.9 for E10. I couldn't justify 13cpl difference for 95 and I hate with a passion using E10 and haven't for many months now.

EDIT -
Though now when I do the maths...it was only going to be a difference of $7.15 once the 55L had gone in. Always seems like such a huge difference at the pump!

Same price as it was at the same time last week so I don't think this is an Easter hike. Sadly, I missed both by a day with a 20c/litre jack overnight.

Hit $159.9 in South East Melbourne last Friday for 91ULP. Now at around $154.9. According to the fuel minister prices dont rise for Easter!!
It may get down close $1.50's by Thursday then get ready for the average 18cpl price increase just intime to spoil the long weekend travel. I guess the holiday cash is better in the Governments and petrol companies pockets rather than supporting local tourism....

First time Ive only put $20 in my tank, usually happy to fill it up regardless of price, but this is pretty outrageous. Just hold off till after Easter I guess.

We were told that there would be a massive price hike over the Easter long weekend here. Given prices are already pretty high (150-ish for E10), people understandably flocked to the servos to get fuel so they wouldn't need it over the long weekend. Now it's come out that oh no, that was wrong, prices should actually DROP over the long weekend and this will likely be the highest price for a while. If that is true, I am going to hunt down whoever put out the first story, as I forked out a ton for 98 yesterday at 173.9 to avoid these fabled 20 to 30 cent a litre increases....

I picked my old man up from Gold Coast Airport this morning and at the main intersection where the Gold Coast hwy meets the old section of the Pacific hwy Matilda was 146.9, Shell was 154.9 and BP was 164.9. This is at stations within 150m of each other.

Yep, the local BP was 147.9 and after 5pm yesterday was 154.9 when I was able to go there at 7.30 pm. (North Wyong.)
So only got $20. Stuff you Reliance Petroleum (their supplier).
Essentially I would argue that Coles and Woolworths push up the price by 20c
per litre then offer 4c, 8c, 20c discounts to look like heroes which they're not.
What ever happened to fuel watch or at least the principle of it (knowing the next day's price at least.)

Well it's down at $1.39 (and cheaper) in places around Adelaide now, so that's big talk from 'on the run'.

I love watching the 'alarmist' news reports about this over long weekends... It cracks me up...

I'm going to use approx 100 litres of fuel to go away with my family this weekend - in my trusty 7 seater Territory...
If fuel was @ $1.43 a litre it would have cost me $145.00 of fuel... BUT because of the higher fuel costs.... @ $1.58 it will now cost me $158.00...

So - for the sake of $13.00 I'd better not go away... Right? Please...

Anyone who is going away for the long weekend is doing it for the sake of recreation and relaxation... That $13.00 could have been absorbed in one meal if we go out for tea (by having 2-3 drinks), or a few ice-creams for the kids at the local milk bar...

And to those who are going away to the river or lake with a boat or jetski - ok it will cost you a little more too.... if you used an extra 100 litres of fuel on top of your travels its another $15.00....

It's hardly enough to warrant selling your boat/jetski or not going on the trip...

Deal with the fact that Petrol costs you money, and if the increase in fuel costs affects your wallet that much - then you probably couldn't afford to go away in the first place...

To me - in the big scheme of things, it's a nothing issue... You can control and reduce the impact of the use of petrol in many ways... Or you can save somewhere else to balance the extra costs of fuel...

Not really Cole and woolies are offering 10 to 20 cpl off if you buy certain items
So they cover their costs by forcing up the price 20 cpl over what it should be just a slight rip off but those 2 companies control way 2 much of this economy at the moment

Exactly, not that the ACCC will do anything about it.
Dad did some shopping at Woolies yesterday & filled up at the adjoining Woolies/Caltex servo where petrol was 157.9c & got his 20c/l off, then came back home driving past a Metro servo about 1.5km down the road where petrol was about 15c/l cheaper. Caltex & 7/11 in neighbouring suburb were same price as Woolies, BP was 10c cheaper at 147.9c. E10 prices for all except BP, that was regular ULP.

So wait on, the small franchises and independants need to pay their staff more for the public holidays, but you should get your petrol for the usual price?

I dont see the supermarkets or any other retail outlet raising prices just for a long weekend to pay the staff loading.

If it is the case why are the fuel increases on a normal weekday??

My only point is there shouldn't be the erratic behaviour such as; United North Wyong have their 94ULP at 141.3 yesterday AM and then at 11 am it's 153.3, same fuel, same AM even.
As I said above even the principle of a 'fuel watch' system, a cheapest day of the week with some certainty and what about a few years ago when frustrated motorists were going to not buy on a certain day of the week to protest...I'll back that, c'mon every Ford Forum member boycotting Thursday
at the servo, why don't the NRMA back that too?
