Welcome to my ad for a 2000 Ford Fairmont AUII Ghia 75th Anniversary Tickford, 4.0L, petrol, automatic. Launched in November 2000 to celebrate 75 years of Ford manufacturing in Australia, these limited-edition cars were only made in small numbers until March 2001 and only in four special colours. The car was $47,260 when new (without options or Government charges).

This particular car, finished in ‘Unique Sand Storm’ with ‘Warm Charcoal’ Howe leather interior, was sold by Sunshine Ford, Southport, QLD on 24th April 2001. It was owned by the same family until we purchased the car in March 2020. It comes with the original sales brochure including the appendix for the 75th Anniversary model.

The car has covered 147,500kms. It has been meticulously looked after and has always been garaged (50,000 of those kms have been in the last 12 years). The car benefits from a comprehensive logbook service history which shows the car has wanted for nothing. The original Ford wallet also includes an owner’s manual, security system booklet, security codes and a separate folder containing many tax invoices for work done (especially over the last 4 years while the vehicle has been in our ownership).

Exclusive features of the 75th Anniversary edition were 8x17 inch ‘Elegance’ alloy wheels, Tickford locking wheel nuts, body-coloured side skirts & rear spoiler, ‘75’ badges on the front fenders & front door cards, ‘75’ embossed on all seats, wood/leather Momo steering wheel, woodgrain centre console & inserts, leather gearknob & handbrake, F&R floor mats and security system. A Ford tow pack is also fitted to this car as an optional extra. The car also comes with a hardback copy of ‘True Blue’ by Bill Tuckey, which was given free with every 75th anniversary car sold.

In addition to the regular servicing, this Fairmont received a particularly thorough service in August 2012 at 96,950kms, which included new control arm bushes, new inlet manifold & rocker cover gaskets, new power steering hoses/oil change, new crank seal and new radiator (a two page tax invoice for $1788 is included in the invoice folder). More recent work includes a new battery, Redback 2.5” cat-back exhaust system, transmission filter/oil service, front rotors & pads, rear pads, bonnet & boot gas struts and a complete handbrake overhaul. An oil and filter service has just been completed. The car comes with a Roadworthy Certificate (RWC), rego until 26/04/2024 and all keys/remotes. The Pirelli Dragon Sport 235/45 R17 tyres were new in 2021 and have plenty of wear left. Nothing will need to be done until the next service. A box of spares (including spare brake pads & shoes and steering rack & gearbox switches) comes with the sale.

Safety and security features include driver & passenger airbags, lap-sash retractable seatbelts for all 5 seats (with pre-tensioners on the front seats), traction control, anti-lock brakes (ventilated disc brakes on the front and solid disc brakes on the rear), independent double wishbone suspension, remote central locking, engine immobiliser and alarm. There is a full-size spare wheel in the boot floor and the car comes with the original jack and tool set under the spare wheel.

Everything works as did when it left the showroom including automatic climate control (air conditioning), power steering, cruise control, power door mirrors, power windows (front & rear), power antenna, power front driver’s seat, intermittent variable wash/wipe, adjustable steering column (tilt & reach), steering wheel controls, remote release (boot & fuel flap), heated rear screen and tachometer.

Of particular note is that the message display centre (including clock, trip computer and climate controls) has been refurbished at a cost of $300. It is almost perfect with only one dead pixel and no black screens. The 11 speaker Ford Premium Sound System with 6-Disc in dash CD changer and stereo radio cassette has also been refurbished by Supertech Electronics and also works perfectly (very rare for these cars). It loads and plays all 6 CDs.

The 4.0 litre Intech Tickford-tuned, 6 cylinder, Variable Cam Timing (VCT) SOHC petrol engine uses 91 unleaded and has a 4-speed automatic transmission (with normal and economy mode switch). Fuel consumption is 11.5L/100km (combined cycle). A ‘fail-safe’ cooling function is also fitted as standard which prevents engine damage if the cooling system fails unexpectedly. Max power is 168kW and max torque is 370Nm. Fuel capacity is 68 litres.

There are a few very minor marks on the external bodywork and a couple of areas that have been touched up with matching S9 paint. These are consistent with the age of the car but do not detract from the overall appearance and condition, which is ‘concours d'elegance’ standard. The 17” alloy wheels have all been refurbished and are in excellent, unmarked condition (and fitted with Ford valve caps). The interior of the car is a particular feature and is unmarked and in exceptional condition. Even the original floor mats present like new.

The car has clear PPSR (certificate available) with no finance owing, no accident history and is not stolen. The car is on PPQ plates (AUF000) which are included in the sale if the vehicle is sold in QLD. An unused QLD accessory plate is also included.

This is a unique piece of automotive history that celebrates Ford’s legacy in Australia. You are welcome to view the car in Stanthorpe or I can walk you round on a video call. I’m happy to answer any questions you may have. Thanks for taking the time to read the ad.

What a stunning looking car, looks to be immaculate. Wish you the best of luck in the current market mate, it's tough out there.

Was it one of the AU tragics on here that bought it?

Shows the market is still there for a car someone wants. If you posted that on Facebook you would have got destroyed by people saying you are dreaming. I’m not surprised it sold, but I am surprised it went so quick.
