Default Buying a QLD car, do mod plates mean anything in NSW?

I am contemplating buying a QLD registered vehicle which has a mod plate, does this mean anything at all when i bring it into NSW registration?
Is it worth the metal tag it's stamped on? and Will the NSW boys in blue basically laugh at it, and then defect it?

I was of the impression mod plates were nationally recognised but I could be wrong...(providing you have appropriate modification plates). You may be able to check the engineers work to see if they're nationally accredited...? To be honest, I really don't know, but....

This might be helpful for you...

You would have to take the car to the RTA and get the car re engineered in NSW, as they have different regulations. In Victoria we do not have mod plates. Each state has it own rules and regulations to mods.

For example if I wanted to register a car in Victoria and it had been moded, I would have to goto a approved Vic Roads engineer.

You have to go get a blue slip for the car when u rego it in NSW. Think you do nothing going the other way.

If the vehicle has been modified under the light vehicle modification code,
I think that other states accept approvals done in Queensland,
provided that they have access to Qld Transport approval documentation.

The mod plate should have some codes on it
Find out what the codes entail , then enquire in NSW as to whats required for these mods
Alot of 4x4s approved in NSW will not ever pass in QLD

Really depends whats been modded

The car has a bolt in 4 point cage, is now a 2 seater instead of a 5 seater, and it has a turbo now. I won't know the codes until i look at the car, but just wanted to sus it all out first.
I was aware of the blue slip, which isn't a problem. Maybe i take the QLD reports to the RTA and get them to add it to their records.
Thats how my NSW car is, on the rego it says "modified as per report number ......" and has a special code on the sticker too.

It's not too attention grabbing, but it's just a random breath test where they might check it out, as it will be my daily driver.

Not up to speed on the cage
Are they legal in QLD ???
The seating will defo be a mod plated for sure
But a 5 seater to a 2 seater ???
The turbo as well could be an issue
Now IF all the mods were done at the one place itll have only 1 mod plate
On this plate will have what the codes are and the place that approoved them
It will entail the place of business and their approoval number
Get this info IF you can , then ring them and have a yack
IF its got a multitude of mod plates scattered all over the engine bay
(Yep each mod entails aprooval, and a mod plate, unless all done at once)
Youll then have to contact all these places
Its alot of rubbish to go threw , but id hate for you to buy then discover itll never be legal in NSW
We dont have a uniform code of road laws/mods australia wide
Each state is different

This would be your first step. Modifications in NSW are covered by an engineer's certificate instead of a Mod Plate. (same thing, just not made of metal)

In QLD to register it needs a current Road worthy cert
IF it has mods of sorts , these will need to checked before rego
IE
Some Road worthy blokes wont pass the car unless the mods are aprooved
Even IF and when they mite turn a blind eye
The car is your responsibilty
IF you are busted with illlegal mods , you can and do get sent for a machinery

I know a road worthy bloke who is a little leniant
But he wouldnt pass a car because the rearward seat was removed, and the seating alteration wasnt aprooved
(Was a 7 seater wagon back to a 5 seater)
I either had to source the rear seat or get a mod plate for this before he would pass the road worthy

302xc a cage can be approved in qld if it's bolted in and meets other requirements like position in relation to occupants, padded where any contact can be made and intrusion bars must not be welded in and a few other things. The bolted in bit sucks i think because if you drag and run under 11s i think it is, the cage must be welded in so i'd like to know how people get around that.
