I dunno if this is a setup.. but this is a shocking bit of automotive engineering if its real, unless its an alfoil mockup of a car...

The "truck" is actually a VW. Check out the last car in this clip - it's Russian :(

I've just come back from a months holiday in China and have never seen so many Audi's and VW's in my life. I think this say's alot about what the Chinese themselves think about their cars.

The speed limit is still 110 kph and the speed limit signs would look right at home in SA but I was driven along with a colleague at speeds of around 180 kph In an A6 along these 3 lane super Hi-ways in the middle of nowhere. They weave around slower traffic like they were dodgem cars. Scary stuff! |

Before we get too carried away, let's remember that the regulations for light trucks are vastly different to passenger vehicles.
I mean, F150's are tough and safe right? |

To Ford's credit the newer model is vastly better.
Light trucks as a rule though are nowhere near as safe as the passenger vehicle alternate. |

Also, watching all the videos posted thus far, the yellow Russian car is also the old school Commodore... Oh, and the China Cherry cars are often badge engineered cars. I saw a Cherry in China that was a Matiz with a new nose grafted on the front. Last edited by Yellow_Festiva; 27-05-2008 at 05:23 PM. |

One of the things to note is that the safer the new cars get, the more dangerous older cars get.

Chery is coming to Australia later this year. I don't know what specific models, but it's on its way. Here's there sales figures: Chery sales history * 2000: ~2,000 * 2001: ~28,000 * 2002: ~50,000 * 2003: ~90,000 (8th in China) * 2004: ~86,000 (10th in China) * 2005: ~188,000 (5th in China) * 2006: ~305,000 (Chery made 307,232 cars in 2006.)[8] * 2007: ~381,000[9] (4th in China) |

Yes it is very scary on Chinese roads no road laws seem to mater. We drove up through the mountains and they will overtake on blind corners without a worry in the world. |
