I've just come back from a months holiday in China and have never seen so many Audi's and VW's in my life. I think this say's alot about what the Chinese themselves think about their cars.

Yeh me too. I think it is because VW was very smart to recognise the growing auto market in China so they were one of the first Auto companies to build hi-tech car plants there. The Chinese regard The Audi as something to aspire to as they become more middle class.

The speed limit is still 110 kph and the speed limit signs would look right at home in SA but I was driven along with a colleague at speeds of around 180 kph In an A6 along these 3 lane super Hi-ways in the middle of nowhere. They weave around slower traffic like they were dodgem cars. Scary stuff!

Before we get too carried away, let's remember that the regulations for light trucks are vastly different to passenger vehicles.

No, It's the "Convertible" Model.

To Ford's credit the newer model is vastly better.

Light trucks as a rule though are nowhere near as safe as the passenger vehicle alternate.

That VW truck has been posted before. I think that crash test was for the actual barrier it was crashing into, not the truck itself. They had loaded up the rear with weights so the total mass was around 4 tons to simulate a larger trucks impact. This is why the tray demolished the cabin.

Also, watching all the videos posted thus far, the yellow Russian car is also the old school Commodore...

Oh, and the China Cherry cars are often badge engineered cars. I saw a Cherry in China that was a Matiz with a new nose grafted on the front.

That's actually the Russian car from the vid that GTP006 posted up. They look remarkably similar! Notice the different shapes for the lights etc. though

In parts the limit is actualy 120 kph I only saw 2 speed cameras the hole trip.
Yes it is very scary on Chinese roads no road laws seem to mater. We drove up through the mountains and they will overtake on blind corners without a worry in the world.
