What colour is your engine bay?
A few days ago, I was looking at a mates AU. Its the same model, same colour even the same build date, yet his engine bay is the same colour as the car while mine is black. This struck me as very odd, so I thought I might start a poll. Does anyone know why Ford did this different from the factory?

mines black to..car is s1 xr6 galaxy blue...seems like itsbeen pressure packed for some weird reason...its crazing? looks like crap

Mines black. I've seen some painted the same as the car and others black.

Same colour as the body here, its a flat colour though, but yeah body colour.

The AUI Ghia I6 has a painted engine bay. My Ba is blue pearl and its got a black engine bay.

Mine was black (AU1 Fairmont) but I was fortunate enough to be able to body match it when I had the engine/trans out for the rebuild, it's now got a hint of pearl in it.
It's "interesting" Ford went back to the black for the BA after some (later) AU's had body colour engine bay's.

It seems Ford have only painted engine bays if you have a white car or a red car but if you have any other colour it is usually black.

I think you will find a dark base is used on metalic cars. I remember having to paint a Walnut Glow XBGT flat black before the top coat or you could see right through it.
Thats what i reckon anyway..... My BA is Vibe and has dark engine bay.
