Undo the screw at the front, near the bottom of the shifter handle, pull the handle off, pull out the old button, insert the new, and keep the button pressed in when you put the handle back on, then do up the screw.

remove Tbar as JC said then remove the console which only has a few screws holding it the shifter surround will now come off easily when re installing the console make sure you get the A/C duct lined up properly

Then say what you mean, and mean what you say!

Try doing a search for centre console removal. I think GK's documented it in one of his workshop builds, so just follow that.

a 'thank you for your assistance' would have been more appropriate

As I said previously, mean what you say, and say what you mean. I didn't actually criticise, I gave you help in the first place on what you posted, and AU3XR6 pointed you in the right direction once you said what you really meant. Then I suggested doing a search because I know GK has documented this, and I am not a search engine - there is one provided in the menu bar for everyone to use. In fact, if I wasn't busy at work, I may have found the link for you, but not now.

In fact from now on, you ask a question, I ignore it. You may not think that's a loss, and that's fine. I sure know it's no loss on my part.

I think the last 3 words of what you have quoted sums it up pretty well. Though I don't understand how someone who needs help to replace an auto shifter surround can call someone else (who was offering help) **** 4 brains. Unless he looked in the mirror when he was typing.
