Well I've pulled enough tail lights out of coupe wrecks over the years. Never once were they factory black and a few of them were XCs. I'd be double checking where you got your info from.

Hi Paul,

Here's a Ford promo pic and even though it is in black & white it is clear that he surounds on the tail lights are Black

I also have plenty of pictures of XC Falcon & Fairmont coupes and all have tail lights with black surrounds. I also owned a factory original 1977 XC Fairmont coupe that was as per the day it left the factory including black tail light surrounds.

I would be interested in seeing any factory pics that show Chrome surrounds on XC's as everything I have and seen shows black only.

Cheers

Bruce

Brut33, I absolutley love the John Goss Special mate.

Geez Louise the XA coupe, the one in the middle, never came out with a shaker from the factory. The XA GTs had two scoops sunken into the middle section of the bonnet on either side the raised center section. I'm not trying put down that XA Coupe but I much prefer the standard twin scoops over the aftermarket shaker.

IMHO Shakers look the best on XY's and a bit try hard on anything else.

Having said that though. I saw a BA XR8 with one on it the other day and it looked a lot better that I thought it would.

And just to go way off topic for a second, I saw an early AU XR8 with a power hump/bulge on the bonnet recently and that looked exceedingly (SP?) cool. Saw the same thing on a Holden crewman, NOT Cool.

Thanks for the XA to XC photos guys, brings back some memories

OK you guys have me confused. I've pulled chrome tail lights out of 2 XC GS coupes and I've seen the chrome on a XC Fairmont coupe. Replacement tail lights at some stage in the cars life or did a batch of chrome one make it to QLD?

thats odd, as xb/c bonnets are a fair bit longer than XA's.

The XA is a Superbird done as a GT replica, when I bought it there was a round chrome airfilter poking through the bonnet which IMO looked worse. I changed to the shaker as I had to do something to fill the hole, I have another bonnet which I will fit eventually.

I think that they are all the same surrounds, just that they were painted black as needed. The black paint wore off easily.

The XA did appear in Street Machine but looked a bit different then

After I bought it I sold the running gear and wheels which made it slightly more tame on the street.

They look the same on Standard Bonnets. XB GS / GT Bonets have the Twist Down Pins, XC GS / GXL ones don't. Both have the Scoops though.

Could someone please post up some pictures to put this guy out of his misery.
It was called Sports Handling Suspension from 1976, Touring Suspension from mid-1978 (although some brochures made reference to the earlier name).

The main difference is the XC is a better looking car, but I'm a bit biased on that.

Here is a link to the Human witches hat ad - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9lb4sZJz2ww I heard that Goss was originally going to be the driver but Gibson got the nod from the "hats". Not sure how true that is but maybe they were worried that Gossy would be tempted to throw the XC around like he was on the race track.
