Question Show and Tell ....mystery part?

Gday,

I got a game for you all of show and tell.
My rules are ... i show... then you tell.. me what it is.
Simple kiddies come join the fun!

Just jokin, but i needed to get ya attention some how.
Found this the other day helping my old man clean up his garage the other day, i asked him what it came off and where he got it from.
He said he didnt know what it came off and he got it at a swap meet around 25 years ago. He paid 20 bucks for it i know, cos it still had the sticky label on it with the price on.

Apart from coming off a ford bonnet, i got no idea what model its off.
Does anyone have any ideas on what car it comes off... make n year?

Cheers

Wouldn't have a clue what it was off but obviously weight wasn't an issue back then. Must have added 3mpg.

XM Bonnet Bird. Most of us XP resto guys have one, that will probably never be fitted.

I reckon its off a early model American two door falcon..Like our xm..chrome side strips with the two tone paint ,or a woody falcon wagon..

I woulda thought it'd be off something like a customline or a US Falcon.
Where ever it came from, sell it on Ebay for 10x the price your dad paid!!Hehehe!

I think its an accessory piece, bonnet mascots were quite popular in the late 50's through to the mid 60's. I remember seeing my dad's friends' cars with all sorts of wierd macots on their bonnets. Some were rocket like others birds like this one.

Just got told by a knowledgable body that it's an option off an XK/XL Falcon, trying to find some pic's now. It's a bit hard though.

Just had a closer read at the eBay ad and it mentions that it has an original part number.
I didnt notice or remember seeing it so i grabbed it to have a squizz, turned it over and ..... its amazing what you can see when you open your eyes.

thats the australian falcon bonnet mascot that was fitted to some XKs

the grey XK falcon wagon that we had when i was a kid had one. i remember dad saying that he thought they were fitted to the first 300 falcon station wagons built. i could not say for sure if this is true or not ?????

Could you post a pick of the underside of yours? I'm just curious to see how it attached to the bonnet.

Sorry for the delay on posting the pic.
As you can see it is secured via 4 screw threaded posts, I have 2 out of the 4 nuts on mine. Pretty simple stuff.
