I doubt it, especially considering they havn't got an FG Wagon to build off of nor do they seem to have any plans of making one.
I think the Territory is the Family wagon now for Ford, and if you want something smaller then you can start debating on whether the Mondeo wagon will make it over.

It's annoying that we never get decent wagons in this country and if we do it's only in 'small runs' coz the manufacturer thinks people won't buy them.
Ford were stupid to kill off the XR6 wagon. That was a great car. Now if people want something different than the normal 'XT/Futura' they have to modify it themselves.
Wagons are a big thing in the UK and Europe. BMW, Mercedes Benz and Audi have a good range of wagons including high performance ones. (We don't usually get the BMW & Merc high performance ones here in OZ).

I prefer a wagon myself, but there's not a huge amount to choose from (unless you have buckets of money) and the Territory (in my opinion) is just too big and 4WD looking to be part of the station wagon brigade.

Unfortunately for Ford, Holden will end up selling quite a few of those new 'Sportswagons' as theirs different specs available. I've already seen quite a few on the road already.
Just my thoughts.. I'll go back to my box now. :P

Consumers had a chance to keep the wagon alive, but there is no market demand for sportswagons or luxury wagons.

Ford having nothing but the XT is a smart move.

Much of the "demand" for an XR wagon is the fact that they are no longer around.

Buy a used XT wagon and mod it to look and go like an XR, it'd be cheap and easy to do, even in Turbo form.

OOOH. Now an XR6 Turbo wagon..That would be nice. I didn't realise that the wagon could have the turbo engine but I guess it's the same under the bonnet as the sedan... But that would certainly be a very nice unique car.
Why not.. There's already been a ute version around for years!!!

R+D costs mixed with Australia being a relatively small market mean for Ford to release an FG wagon to compete with Holdens Sportswagon it would easily be at a Substantial loss to Ford. A lot of people say, yeah we would buy one of them, but in reality when it comes to paying with their own cash their far and few between.

Ford is much better going the way they are with the 3 pronged attack, Mondeo for Euro style sportswagon market, Territory for the Family market, and BF MKIII for the Fleet Specials.

And if you think BF MKIII is too old and will die soon, don't count on it, Remember when a similar thing pushed Ford to push on with the Old XF, XG, XH utes, and they still sold strongly
