Default Blast from the past

I'm rummaging through the shed the other day looking for something when I stumble across this old Unique Cars magazine from March 1997. Made for an interesting read....Here's some of the deals on offer!

I wonder where these cars are now, and how much would they be worth based on the recent sales of the HO's?

Never seen the Cobra written about anywhere before.

I've got a pic of it with Edsel Ford II. Ford did it when he came over here in 92? as he was the guy who thought up the idea to make the XC Cobra.

These guys selling the GTs are thinking "Why did I sell it 10 years ago?" and crying over how much they could have got for it now

someone should ring the numbers on the ads. "you know how much that GT would be worth today you idiot???"

nah, that would be too cruel. funny though.

This brings back some memories! I was 17-18 back in 97 and remember umming and ahhing about an XA/XB GT for my first car. Back then decent driveable restorers were under 5k. I ended up in an Alfa, and then a VW kombi :(

That must've been before the current owner scored it. Do you have the mag or remember what issue # it was ? I would love a copy or even just a copy of the advert.

Nah I dont have it. It was first Id heard of it. I read the blurb and thought yeah yeah, XW mockup with the usual story "its a one off special built for someones uncles mates auntys brother in law who worked for the second cousin of the general manager of Ford."

HO's were getting around $60-??100k then, so that added to my mistrust, I cant believe any HO is worth more than that XW.

Haha, yeah it was a fun car and was very roomy...

Nonetheless, I still wish I'd bought a GT back then as my first!

that EB Cobra could have come from noosa too. there was one there around that time that looked the same, same wheels and all , that i seen at a few car shows . not certain but it could have belonged to the ford dealers. it did look good.

It brings tears to your eyes doesn't it?

To know that 10 years ago with the money i have spent on cars in the last 5 years i could have had a couple of Genuine GT's and a Monaro!!! :togo:
