Default Powerchip any good?

Gday guys, I have recently bought an 07 XR5, Love the car. I have a few upgrades on it at the moment (RS suspension- shocks and springs, RS calipers and Rotors, stainless steel high flow cat and exhaust from the turbo and a few other small things) and now Im looking at these Powerchips.
I've searched the this forum, havn't really found anything. Has anyone had experience with these? Are they worth the money?
these are the claims
http://www.powerchipgroup.com/intera...sp?pid=For0295

basically just wondering if anyone has got this and what their feedback is.

Thanks.

Dreamscience would be the most well known generic flash tunes to get, proven time and time again.

Seconded.

and best value. 7 maps for 700-800 vs 1300 bucks from the gearboxed powerchip for a single tune with no flash back to stock option.

For best results you need to have the car tuned on a dyno , how can any tune developed on the other side of the world work right on our cars.
Give us a call we can tune your car using the sct software and have the advantage of returning the car back to the std tune at anytime yourself.
SCT has been proven time and time again to be the best tuning product for Fords. We have been tuning a lot of xr5 focus that have been tuned with other products and getting better results with our customers being very happy.

They arent 'our' cars there is more of these cars on the 'other side of the world' for development to get things right. Sure there is variables ie heat etc but that is an easy fix with an I/C but the DSCi Tunes are fantastic, and we can return them to stock whenever we wish to.
Im not saying you guys dont have a clue but there is more to tuning a Ford then SCT.
Ive had a look around your site but couldnt find anything, do you have any info on the I5T's you guys have tuned?

Yeah i know those 2 cars, some good results there though.
Still you cannot argue the value of a DSCi/JWR etc al tune though.

No turbo car should run a tune that has not been tuned on the dyno , there are too many things that can go wrong. But like everything in this world there are people that dont care and dont understand what they are doing and could end up costing them an engine and this has been seen time and time again with the xr6 turbo with mail order tunes.

Why because they havnt been tested, i know they have.
Cant say ive seen a I5T fail with a DSCi tune. So what your saying is i dont care about my car then eh?
Mod X will give 99% of Dyno tunes a good run for their money in the power stakes i can assure you. But with these cars its not outright power the owners care about.

when yout playing with 3-400rwkw... you want EVERYTHING to be perfect. Even 1 variable wrong, you can pop motors/gbox etc. Only way to see all the variables with your eyes is on a dyno.

Dont get me started on GENERIC tunes and how fail they are.

We are not playing around with 150-200rwkw bangers anymore here...we talking massive power levels!

As i said ive not seen a failure with a 'Generic' tune yet, we are not talking about falcons. (and im not saying because they are falcons they fail) just to warn off the sooks.
This thread has nothing to do with big output RWD Falcons.

I don't see the point of buying a nice car then putting a generic tune in it. You can argue all day about how good a particular generic tune may be, but at the end of the day anything less than a custom tune is simply a compromise. Personally the only generic tune I'd put in any car would be the manufacturer's tune.

And... Powerchip are a "bunch of ****s"

No, powerchip does not work; don't waste your money. Had one on my first AU XR8, worked for a while then the ECU learnt around it. Would only notice a difference if you did an ECU reset and then refitted the powerchip, and the cycle starts again. Plus it caused interference with the radio.

the only thing a "powerchip" is useful for is to chock your door open, the only people that fit these to their cars are unable to wear pants properly...
