The 'solenoid' on the starter that pushes the cog out when the starter engages also is the 'relay' that connects the battery cable to the starter motor. Some cars have the key 'start' wire directly to the starter, but most modern cars have a 30-amp relay in the fuse box to provide prevent start permissives, and to protect the ignition switch. The easiest you can do is to measure with a multimeter at the small wire that goes to the starter, if it has 12V when activating the key. Then you can trace that wire back to the fuse box. (Most likely the fuse box in the engine bay). Cheers, |
