Default Power window issue

Morning all,

Ive had a rather frustrating experience which started yesterday. My Fairmonts front passenger window wouldnt come back up.

Firstly, I sourced a replacment and it went down, but not back up. Now its an odd coincidence that both did it, so I checked the switch on another window & it worked fine so that rules that out. Also the drivers master doesnt work for it either.

Is there something else to look for or am I just unlucky & need yet another replacement?

You need to do a complete pull apart and clean on both the master and the the door switch 99% of the time that will fix it it, easy done just do a search on window switch

The thing is though, is the switch i pulled off the passenger front worked in the passenger rear. But it wont work in the front. So it cant be the switch.

Ok, Ive just had the replacement tested, and it exhibited the same issue as mine.

However yet another unit was tested & it worked perfect so Ill install that one & see.

Sounds like I just was unlucky.

They are a dodgey thing at best. give them all a good clean first you will see the contacts when you pull them apart if there to far gone you may have to replace them

Ok, my car has made an idiot of me

Ive now learnt that the whole power window system hinges on the master switches working. Cleaned the damn master & it worked....

Im really sorry guys, I feel like such a noob. I shouldve known this.

Good to hear you sorted it out! I didn't know that either about the master switch, so we both learned something new!
