Default Cars you don't see many of anymore

Driving about Melbourne it's getting rare to see particular cars on the roads as time goes on, say from 2010 to 2020 the landscape of our 'car parc' has significantly changed as the older vehicles retire.

Hyundai Excel is something you hardly see these days compared to 10 years ago where it seemed they were still everywhere with their annoying rear fog light on.

Hyundai Getz has all but disappeared.

Ford Festiva and it's Mazda 121 brother were about in numbers which you hardly see.

EF/EL Falcon doesn't appear on the roads too much either.

Also 1990s Jap imports like R33 Skyline is uncommon now where as a decade ago there were heaps of the povvo spec GTS-25/T variations kicking about Melbourne.

What have you noticed over the decades where there were heaps and then they just seemingly disappeared from the roads as time progressed?

Along with the Zot, 80s and 90s Accords used to be everywhere, Tarago's were the main soccer mum shopping cart.

I'll mention the bleeding obvious trucks but one night I went to sleep and woke the next morning to discover that al the Louisville's had disappeared and all the Ford Traders went to India.

Peugeot 306. Plenty sold here, bodies never rusted, just reached negligible value and were scrapped.

here in Wollongong we are blessed with all those forgotten cars
the choice of the local meth expert is an excel or magna
old hoons drive falcons and young hoons drive holdens, plenty around here
plenty of rare cars around most are located in disrepair up driveways or front yards but still seen driving

i found a vauxhall viva when i went home a different way the other day and on the same street i found a drifters junkyard, R32 coupe some silvias and 180's all dumped out he front. i'd love that R32

my local wrecker has heaps of rare cars too but he wants too much for complete cars so they just rust away

Seed, you need to look for them down in Lane Cove NP tourist park, all the backbackers probably abandoned them when they had to leave suddenly.
Failing that outback NT or WA or Cairns. Along with Mitsi express and Nissan Urvans.

Here in Bris, not even the p plate zoomer gen want magnas now. Cant say i blame them, really... they have a number of mech issues that inevitably arise with mileage.

Always liked the 180s, the skyline sedans and four door straight sixes...but the remaining 180s are for the most part, modified (ie made worse). Watched a youngish bloke leaving his tyre shop employer in one - wider wheels, slammed, fat exhaust.... ruined.

Im going outside to yell at clouds again....

Yes, depends on where you live, country /city. Rust belt coast or dry inland.

Imagined if it regularly snowed all over Australia, I reckon there would be even less old stuff due to salting the roads in winter.
