Rear wiper......

I had a thought.......would it be possible to attach a rear wiper to the rear of an au sedan?
Straight blade wiper variety - with the wiper motor inside the cabin attached the roof, and motor itself within a shrouded case of some description. Salvage a water container/pump and hosing etc ...... know what I mean?
Or I could just be tripping....... :togo:

ahhhhhh - yep...........thought so = tripping as i do....

Trying to keep the wiper in contact with the curvature of the glass would be the hardest thing to do ... and also getting the motor/wiper mechanism through the glass without busting it would be another thing as well.

too much hassle really.

The best way to try and do it would be to try and source an import Skyline rear wiper that was made for a curved screen. But they were mounted at the base of the window where your brake light is anyway.

I guess if you want a rear wiper you could have bought a wagon or a Territory.

The rake of the rear window though on AUs would dissipate water when on the move quite well.

Agreed. I was thinking attachment would be top of the rear window center hole thru the roof line.......some type of rubber grommet keeping water out. I guess to hide all the 'equip' attached could be a rear window slim line type visor like those you see on the cosworths just enough to hide wiper. to hide wiper motor attched to roof a fabricated 'box' covered in roof trim - I saw a lexus saurer the other day - gave me the idea -

i've never had a scenario where i've said 'gee, i'd really like a rear wiper right now'

If it's just for the sake of something different it's worth a question but if water on the rear window is a prob then I'd use Rainex.
In fact, I do all the windows with Rainex prior to each of our trips away.
