Cold start issues

Hi all
Since sunday we're having troubles starting my Wifes LW2 diesel focus. Sometimes it starts with no trouble, sometimes kicks over for a bit, starts and then stops a few seconds later. Had RACQ put the other morning and he said battery good and thought maybe bad fuel. Once warm, not a drama in the world.

It had a service a couple of weeks ago (60k), so will call them in the morning.

The father in law reckons water / air in the fuel line due to the fuel filter not being tightened enough and its sucking stuff in.

Has anybody had this issue too and what was the culprit?

on some of the TDCI models the fuel line going to the pump on the head is transparent so you can see if there is a bubble in it. If so its the problem it sounds like you ahve an airleak over night which means they may not have put/ damaged the rubber O ring back on the fuel filter cap.

While i had some good light, just popped out to the car and even though i did take it for a spin earlier and the car was warm, there were a couple of small bubbles in that clear section.

Petrol will have the effect of destroying the fuel delivery system to such an extent, it wouldn't even start.

It's either water or, as stated -air- in the fuel line.

Def not petrol. I thought the effect of that would be almost instantaneous. We got through just about a full tank before it started playing up.

Finally managed to get it back to the shop last night. Was the o ring on the fuel filter not going on properly.

All good now. Phew
