Default Timeout Errors

Is anyone else seeing random timeout errors?
It seems to happen at about this time each night...
This is the Firefox message:

I seem to only get it in the evenings, maybe anywhere from 7-9pm (Adelaide time).

When I'm on days off (like today - hoorah!) and browse/read/post I have no issues through the day (ie right now).

I haven't really said anything as I know there was that server issue recently and thought the timeouts and problems may be relating back to that, coupled with the fact the timeouts are happening through what I can only imagine to be AFF's "peak" traffic period.

I also find that if it doesn't time out, the forum can be extremely slow during this period. Once again, I'm putting it down to "peak" traffic during the times, I usually disappear and do something else and try again later when it slows down or starts giving timeouts.

We are aware of this particular issue and are trying to establish what actual process is running randomly between the hours of 2000-2130 that is causing it. I have a suspicion I know what it is but have yet to confirm.

Cheers
Russ

Apparently not resolved.

Didn't notice this thread before. I've experienced random / spasmodic timeouts for ages too.

I don't spend long on AFF during the day. I've had timeouts at 7pm, 3am, and hours in between. Midnight - 1am was common last week I think. Sometimes they are painfully long. Had one approx 30min ago tonight but it was relatively short. Outtage again while I typed this.

If I may ask, is the server in Kansas?

I tried the 'down for everybody or just me' thing a few times tonight and it says the site is down. But it only last a few mins max. Is this due to updates, or something a bit more sinister?, as I don't think high traffic causes a site to crash. Just blocks out any one trying to get in.

This isn't a complaint btw, I'm sure the admin team and Russel are doing their best to resolve this and many other things all at once, and I'm sure I speak for everyone here when I say we all appreciate the work you put in to keep this the greatest forum on the internet. Cheers.
