Default What's the Best, Weirdest, or Funnyest thing you've found in a car?

Few years back I bought an AU parts car from Pickles auctions.
A long time later, I finally got around to removing the spare, and found a small bag of cash. It was like a float or similar, a lot of small notes and change.
(Unfortunately nothing to identify, and I wasn't going to give it back to Pickles.)

My first car was an EB2 Fairmont Ghia with 144,000K's on it. In the back of the seat I found its 230,000K service receipt, does that count?

Back in 1984, bought a 1980 Commodore 4 (stop laughing you mongrels). I pulled up the carpets to fit a stereo and run wires, and found about a hundred or more little plastic round "dags" that were obviously trimmings off the plastic interior bits where they had been got from the mold...they were the identical fawn colour as the interior plastic.
In that same car I also found a flattened pair of $1 bills under the carpet, and a slight rattle at full blower speed from somewhere deep in the dash...only really noticeable when the can was sitting still with the sound system off. Something rattled loose one day so I popped out a vent and reached down with a piece of wire.
Got two paper bags folded up, that had the logo "Hot Fresh Pies" printed on them...obviously a sneaky snack on the production line and a quick place to hide the bags...

Only other thing that pops to mind is a handful of coins...Spanish ones...under the carpet of a 1979 TE Cortina we owned. It was about 10 years old when we bought it, and was a one owner reasonably low mileage car. The coins were deep under the carpet in the middle of the car, nowhere near a hole or something where they could have dropped in. Very odd.

In my EA, my drivers door suddenly started making a horrible rattling noise whenever I closed it. Even though I'd had the doortrim off a couple of times before, I pulled it off again to check it out, and found a rusted up ratchet sitting in the bottom of the door. What was weird was that it wasn't mine, and it hadn't been there the last 2 times I'd had the doortrim off. My only guess is that it was sitting somewhere higher up in the door for many years (maybe since new!) and had finally dislodged and dropped into the bottom. The mystery ratchet!

Not a car but I bought a house at auction " as is where is". Came the day I gutted it for reno's and lifted the carpet in one of the bedrooms and found $1500 in cold hard cash. Rang the estate agent and asked if all the crap in the house was mine, their reply was "yep, dog turds and all" so I guess the cash was mine. Later when talking to the neighbors I found out that the house was empty for ages and had squatters and druggies in it, I guess they never knew what was lying under the carpet or one drug ducked one forgot where he hid his profits.

For the longest time my XW needed the shifter pushed hard forward to start while in park.

I took off the console to give it a good clean a few years back, and in the process found the reason it wouldn't click fully into park was a dried salami jammed down in the ratchet tray, just in front of Park.

It's worked fine ever since I took it out.

I got a Pathfinder full of rocks and pebbles, never did quite understand that.
Otherwise it's probably spiders. Seeing a spider do a runner when you open the door makes for a nervous drive.

I wish I found money with my spare wheel of my 300c, but all I found was dog food biscuits and golf tees.

In the back seat pocket I found a group certificate saying the previous owner earned less then $20,000 in the year, but the log book said he bought the car brand new which would of cost him over $60,000 I am assuming.
Looked up his name online and turns out he was known for scamming people. Usually selling "high end" electronics out the back of a van.

I've had my 60 series landcruiser for 13 years, and done a few hundred thousand k's in it.

Last year we did another engine swap and that meant getting rid of the rear heater that lives under the drivers seat in these.
Under that heater was a live .22 round.

Every stupid thing i'd ever done in that car as a young bloke, all the corrugated roads, the rough stuff, a few minor prangs in traffic, was all done with a live bullet right under my backside.

A collection of lead diving weights under the rear seat in my XC.

Removing them probably improved the performance.

at the time i was looking to buy a repairable write off, ba silver xr6 ute. time was running out cause govco was bringing in the new rules that repairable write off could not be re-registered. i,d been looking for some time, then pickles auctions sends me a email about one coming up. i go there, a bit of damage here and there, not to bad, just what i was looking for, i brought it.
to my surprise it was owned by a farrier (horseshoer/blacksmith) and i am a farrier too, the tray had a stack of old horse shoes and other stuff in it. there are not many farriers around, what a fluke.
the original ford books were in the car, and i rang this guy up, we talked about horses and stuff and he said he ran it of the road.
then i fixed it up and used it to haul my farrier gear around too. how ironic.

A live Redback in the radiator support in my LTD. But a screwdriver fixed that up. I'd just had my hand in there before I saw it though

I found police reports hidden between the panels of me BA. I was removing the glove box to replace the cabin filter and saw the folded edge of a sheet of paper sitting subtly in the gap between two panels. Pulled it out and it was two sheets of criminal histories for 2 fellas in Mangere and had both of them listed as persons of interest. Pretty interesting considering I later found out the car had started off life as part of the government VIP fleet, which means it always had a cop driving and usually a cop in the passenger seat too. Probably doing some sneaky office work in the car and had to hide it away quick when whoever they were meant to escort showed up.

Not a car, but when I bought my house a few years back, I stuck my head in the roof od the granny flat and found a stack of early 2000's pornos. My wife was holding the ladder so she made me bin them before I could go through them properly.....

I dropped the plastic guard and sump protection on my BF F6 a few month back and had a massive kinchrome rechargeable mechanic's torch drop on my head.

Must have been there for a while as it was shagged.

That's Gold.

I had a mate sell a 540 BMW with 300,000km on the clock for $2K.

It turned up on carsales with 90,000km on the clock for $15K two weeks later.

Another one does spring to mind. In our 1979 XC-Update Fairmont GXL, I pulled out the glovebox to check wiring behind it, and found, held on with a piece of fossilised gaffer tape, the old dot-matrix-printed build sheet! Was pleased to find that!

Been chasing a bad smell for a couple of days whilst the car (Terri) was parked in the sun over summer. Looked underneath, in engine bay, under seats and finally opened the glove box.........

I found a bag of weed in a county court Judges car and a hand gun in the glovebox of a nightclub owners car.
I also found popping candy designed to go in woman's mouths while they pleasure men.
