Default Headers & exhaust fitted

Got X-Force 4-1 Headers, High Flow Cat and 2.5" Cat-Back Exhaust fitted yesterday: http://www.xforce.com.au/cars/view_car/24

Done at Auto Xcess in North Coburg (Vic). Great customer service and a flash new factory as well!

Stainless steel headers:

Single tip system at the rear (the cannon muffler system that fits the Mazda3 would be more ideal (less noise!) but it won't fit on the Focus without modification to the rear bar):

Downwards pointing rear tip, which I chose myself. I wanted it to look subtle:

I haven't had the chance to really open it up yet, so i'm not sure about the performance. The website quotes an apparent 8-10kw gain with the headers but it apparently it takes a week or so for the computer to "re-learn" the new system.

The bottom of this page shows an 8kw gain on a Mazda 3: http://www.bestmufflers.com/Informat.../Mazda_3_2.htm

And here is a better look at the components:
http://www.bestmufflers.com/Xforce_E...ms/Mazda_3.htm

By the way, I might be able to put up a clip this weekend.

Nice work dude, how do you find the noise level? Without the cannon, does that mean there's only a single muffler in there?

And do you know the parts cost for the headers (and if they make them in mild steel)?

That's right, there's only a single rear muffler in there, plus the mid section resonator. As you can imagine, it's pretty loud > 3000-4000rpm but when crusing ~1500-2000rpm at 60kph the system is barely detectable.

I'm not sure of the individual parts cost, I got it all as a package. I'm not sure about mild steel, but the xforce website states "304 grade stainless steel" if that means anything.

The 2.5" cat-back system would be ideal for you - you're thinking of putting a turbo on right?

Yup, the turbo is a strong possibility (cheaper than trading up to a WRX, and I've had this since new...)

I'll probably make my own exhaust system, in 2.5 inch, but to have a system built in mild steel expect $350 odd, much more is too much (plus $100 if you want a silly cannon out the back :P) Yours looks really nice man, congrats.

Regards to the noise: I spend a lot of time at 3-4000rpm...it's kinda cruising speed...so I'll definitely invest in a solid rear muffler plus the small centre mufflers I was going to use. A turbo will make it a lot quieter anyway, but I don't want something that drones in the mean time

I think you lot should stop letting your kids post on the forums.

I mean they never offer anything constructive and like anything else you let kids into, the place will be full of grubby hand prints, maccas wrappers and have a lingering smell of spew.

If I had my way i wouldn't let anyone breed, but not everyone would warm to the idea straight away unfortunately.

Back on topic, Those are a nice looking set of headers. Are they coated?

Strange question mate, but you don't still have the exhaust gasket and old headers lying around do you? I'm curious about the exhaust port size...

Mullet, they're still sitting at the factory. They said they'll give me a month to come and pick up the old system (if I still want them), before they get chucked out. Hopefully i'll get the time / storage space in the next month.

And by the way, if any of you decide to get the xforce system, you'll see an amber engine warning light on your dash. This is due to the rear O2 sensor in the exhaust now feeding different values into the computer. The warning light is harmless but kind of annoying.

The fix is this: http://www.european-parts.net/catalo...roducts_id=942

That would be one Mr Roy Jnr ??????...........

If so, he fitted my X Force system to my BFGT.........top bloke, great Irish....or is it Scottish accent ??.........what a character.

We spent hours on my car getting everything just right........he was like a pitbull..........wouldn't let me go until everything was just spot on. Sounds like he's finally moved ??.............his original workshop was in Mitcham in the east.

Damn right If nothing else, it's worth it just for the flange, depending on the cost of postage...It also means i can make a jig from the headers to the bottom flange, which will allow me to model dump pipes without having to do it on the car...which will mean I can recreate my setup once I've perfected it

ESP: that's right - it's Roy Jr. He's a top guy and certainly knows what he's doing. Sometimes its hard to understand him through that heavy Scottish or Irish accent! He has finally moved, to his own factory now in North Coburg.

Mullett: I'm still deciding on what to do with the headers etc. I'll let you know. I'm really busy with work at the moment, so probably not going to head back out to Coburg for a while!

Thanks for all your help on this topic (via youtube inbox). Hope to get my system sorted out soon. I am wondering is the light on your dash Check engine light? or somewhat related? if it is i have been told that this will be messing up your fuel mixtures into the engine.
??

Thanks again for your help
