Default 1999 Festiva Workshop Manual.

Was wondering if any one could tell me where to download a free workshop manual for a 1999 WF Festiva Trio Demon. I have searched the web with out much luck. To buy it seems to you have to buy the 1997 model + a suppliment for $300 - $400.

I couldn't find one online either, so I bought the factory workshop manual.

Is there anything in particular you would like to know?

I think I may have to replace the rubber hose at the top of the tank filler pipe. When the car is filkled right up with fuel you can smell it a bit inside the car.

Hi all.. this is my first post . Just bought a 99 Festiva Demon. Its a bit untidy but was with RWC and was cheap, so a little (lot) elbow grase will have it looking much better in no time. I've doen the same.. looked high and low where I usually find motorbike manuals and other car stuff.. no deal for the festiva. Might have to get a Gregorys or something. have the owners manual for a few specs but could use some more.

That's actually a very easy job. I did the same when I thought I had a leak as well. Turns out that due to a venting / pressure problem my tank, when full, was forcing the fuel out of the overflow, but only when parked on an extreme angle, nose up, bum down.

Remove door frame trim, remove lower seatbelt mounting bolt and keep undoing, unclipping everything till the whole plastic panel comes free...

Does the smell happen all the time or only in certain situations? I think I needed the combination of hot weather, full tank and car parked uphill with a lean to the passenger side to make the fuel come out - but even then it leaked on the outside of the car.

Ta will try that. It only happens when the tank is full to the top.Which is what makes me think it is the top connection on the hose. If I fill the tank and stop after one or two clicks it dosen't happen.

This is the link to the thread I started on the same problem.

http://www.fordforums.com.au/showthr...va+tank+petrol

May be of some use.

Simple solution, if you don't want to get your hands dirty is to not fill to the very top from now on.

Hey Big Damo, could you please inform me how to fill up the transmission fluid?
I'm assuming your manual applies for the WF series Festiva.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi there Big Damo,

I'm relatively new here, and have just picked up a 1998 Ford Festiva Trio Demon, with a loud metallic knock coming from upper part of of the engine, and sounds much louder than just lifters.

The guy that I got it off, said his brother had recently checked the hydraulic lifters and said they may need replacing. Though I'm not sure after checking them today, they all still have some play, so I am thinking that maybe:

a) The timing belt may have slipped and/or
b) Whether the rockers are back in the position they are meant to be, or
c) The hydraulic lifters/lash adjusters are cactus....

Just wonder if you are able to show a picture of how the rockers are supposed to look when in the engine, and also, if you could let me know how to check to make sure that I have the correct alignment for the timing belt/camshaft?

The car seems to start, idle reasonably smoothly and drive fairly normal, though is very noisy right from the moment it is started.

One thing though, is when the engine is decelerated, the knocking sound seems to disappear briefly until it comes back onto idle where it starts knocking again.

Any help would be kindly appreciated!

New around here, but was wondering about the torque specs for the sway bar mount bolts, as well as the sway bar to control arm bolts (wanting to replace the worn bushings)

Cheers.

They've got hydraulic lifters I believe, shouldn't need to adjust them.

I know this post is old, but my search for a workshop manual for 98 WF was education in itself recently.

I found 3 of the 4 volume original Ford manuals on ebay at a good price.
Was missing Volume 1, the Volume I really needed.
Found someone who has at least 3 Volumes 1's, and priced as if it's a diamond, cos for $100.00 more you can by the complete set from Ford at $317.00,

So, I went to librarys, searched and searched, nothing. Then a Haynes manual showed up at one of the librays, checked it out and it infact explains certain things in more detail than the authentic Ford manual.
$30.00 later and picked one up from Gumtree, and happy with the complete set.

The title of the Haynes is as follows, and believe me, it's exactly the same in most parts as far as engine is concerned.

Quote:
"Ford Festiva & Mazda 121 ( FWD )
Festiva series WA, WB, & WD ( 1991 thu 1997 )
121 Front wheel drive models ( 1987 thru 1990 )"

ISBN: 1 56932 306 8

Haynes Part/Book No: 36736
