Default AM Stereo Factory Radios.

I was wondering if anyone can recall if Ford Australia fitted Stereo AM Radios to Vehicles please?

I am in a Facebook Group about an AM Radio Station and Stereo AM is being discussed. The VK and VL Commodore had a Stereo AM Radio.

I can't recall one from FoA. AM Stereo (using the Motorola C-QUAM system) started in 1985 so it would have to be late XF or after but id really couldn't compete with the lower (capital) cost FM stations and was hampered by the need to have special receivers for it.

The VK/VL units were a Eurovox MRB6201 model which included AM Stereo and a handful of European cars also had AM Stereo available but that was about it. There were head units from Pioneer et al as after-market options that also had the feature but it would only have novelty value now given I think there are only 2 stations nationally still broadcasting AM-S.

It's more of a concern that manufacturers now want to phase out AM altogether given it's widespread use for emergency alerts in Australia.

The highest rating radio station in Australia over many years is also AM (2GB Sydney)

Hi. The Eurovox MCC 6701 was the stereo AM/stereo FM radio cassette with L/R balance control and the Eurovox MCC 6860 was the stereo AM/stereo FM radio cassette with joystick balance/fader control. The MRB 6201 was only AM/ stereo FM cassette. A lot of eurovox service manuals on this site https://www.kevinchant.com/eurovox.html . Cheers MD
