hey guys 2 quick Q's

looking at buying a bf f6 engine what would it cost to get mine pulled out and it put in?

also what would a good condition xr6 turbo motor be worth? with turbo?

motor will be worth what people are willing to pay for it.

as for transplant labour plus oils and coolant. a decent mechanic can do the swap in 9 hours tops without removing power steering and aircon pumps. i was doing taxis in less than 8 hours drive in drive out.

so your looking at just labor costs and then fluids? so would say $1000 be a good ball park figure?

You'd want to budget for more than that I'd reckon.

Is it manual or auto?

Why the upgrade?

Would you think about upgrading the clutch while you've got it out?
It all costs money, and you need some contingency cash just in case.

already got a heavy duty clutch done.

main reasons is while my engine is going strong on a fairly safe tune of 290-300 depending on dyno, im slightly skeptical about pushing it to around the 350ish mark which is where i would like to be sitting. basically that light bulb has gone off saying do it right, hence why ive just done a good brake upgrade and coilovers. and this is a car im keeping and when i look at the option of putting valve springs in my 150,000km's engine and winding up boost waiting for it to go pop compared to putting an f6 engine in selling my mine plus the left overs for the half cut as a turbo conversion kit yeah realistically it would probs cost around 2500-3000 more but... when mine goes pop its only 2500-3000 compaired to having a chunk of metal and then having to buy a new engine and tune.

perhaps im not having enough faith in my engine/turbo?

looks like my motor is to stay, took it down to esp racing in queanbeyan. being an x highway patrol car it must have needed new valve springs during its life with the cops and they put f6 ones in it, wondering if they replaced anything else while they were there. havnt got a final power figure yet going in for the porper tune next week they had a poke around and couldnt get valve spring float even gunning it off the line hitting 15psi and dead stop and the idle came back perfectly, an they had a look and yep f6 valve springs saves me some coin. goes in for a tune with an xcal3 and fuel pump an should sit nicely around the 340-50 mark

Have you got a better intercooler fitted?
Doubt you'd see those figures without one.

got a cheap Monza cooler but just tossing up between a pwr or hdi cooler. Thinking the hdi gt2 cooler as its not as big to keep lag down although the pwr isnt much bigger. Opinions on those 2?
