Hey I wanted to make a poll on what you all think is the best bfyb 2006 small car under 25 grand. The survey would include any car people can think of. After we have established the cars then i would post a poll up
ford : fiesta and focus holden: viva and astra Hyundai: gets mazda:2 toyota:yaris and corolla kia: cerato mitsubitchi: colt honda: suzuki: swift sorry, i know i have missed some out but please add to it and when we have all the cars down, i will make a survey and we can vote and see it...thanks alot. please try not to be biased....vote on the car that you think is best for the price...not brand loyalty. so voting would take all the factors into account eg: price, looks, handling, fuel consumption, speed, reliability, quality, power, comfort, ride etc thanks alot guys. i look forward to seeing your answers and hopefully getting that survey up tonight cheers |

Astra for me, based on the fact that it has a 5 star safety rating, is reasonably priced and very well equiped.
Focus has a better engine but sadly is let down by poor build quality, lack of features and not the best looks.

For value the Hyundai accent 5 years warranty, got a 5 door hatch for my wife in 2002 with alloys, A/C, CD, auto, spoiler $17500 drive away...still around the same price....
Mitsubishi colt has a 10 year warranty if you hang on to your cars these warranties are hard to ignore.. The Focus, Fiesta, Mazda 3, Mazda 2 and Astra are all better quality cars. Stay away from the KIA the spare parts they keep for these cars in Australia is disgusting 3 to 4 weeks for most parts.

Honda Type R Integra with a few mods can kill V8`s. VTEC is crazy. A friend of mine had a CRX 1.6 VTEC and is use2 leave 90% of 6cylinder sitting still. Imagine the Integra. 2nd hand though.
If your talking new cars what about the stock 2.0l Subaru Imprezza...Or the 2.5 RS model or wateva it is.

I like the Polo GTi (except that it's over your budget) so I'd prob go for a Focus or a Clio.

Mitsubishi Lancer for peace of mind warranty, 5 Years/130,000km's bumper to bumper and 10 Years/160,000km's on powertrain,............ or for sheer resale value alone, as well as brilliant fuel economy, safe, comfortable interior with predictable road manners thrown in to boot, Toyota Corolla.

Volkswagen Polo 1.9 TDI - 74kW 240Nm 1.9 TurboDiesel, sub 5L/100km, $22,990
Volkswagen Polo 1.6 6spd Automatic - 77kW 154Nm 1.6 Petrol, only 6spd auto in its class, $20,990 Can't buy a better car then those two in the 20-25k bracket. Highest quality, most economical in their respective fuel categories etc etc.

Most people rate the Focus ahead of the Astra, but the Astra has the benefit of being around a lot longer.
The Corolla, like the Camry is largely image, but the cars in many respects are in no way better than others. In fact, they're worse. I'd take an Astra over a Corolla anyday, simply because Toyotas have crap interiors (traditionally). |

I often state Toyota's reliability, but I find them bland externally and internally. That's why I like the big RWDs...they have nicer interiors and are a greater pleasure to drive. But that's why Toyotas appeal. They don't break down. But my dislike for them is because their interiors are traditionally just so damn boring. But it's more a personal thing than a factual thing, almost making what I am saying garbage. |

Another gong for the Polo GTI, I test drove one recently. Fantastic car.
It would be worth the extra cash to get IMHO and will hold it's value far better because it's turbo and the top of the line for that particular model. The price list I have lists dealer delivery as $1,600 so the base would be avalible for around $28,000 but then if you add leather and the sunroof (as I would if it were not for the fact that I'm now able to get an XR6t instead) then they are around $32,000 on road. |
