Could be 132,000 miles, we'll never no. Is that MUD on the kick panel? The spare looks like it's had a dress rim on it.

Not at all. It's not unusual for the engine bays to look that way. The old tar top batteries would overcharge and spit out battery acid all other the surrounding components. In more serious cases the batteries would "explode" and stuff all painted and plated finishes under the bonnet. All to do with the regulator adjustment. They still do it to this day. Talk to the guys that owned them when they were new, like I have, and they will tell you that the cars looked like crap under the bonnet inside 12 months.
Thanks for the photos Nick. Hopefully the car wont be restored by the new owner just preserved and maintained.

For those miles it looks as though it's had a VERY hard life.

Don't be such an arrogant ****. The guy is voicing an opinion, and has every right too. If he meant there was some sort of swifty going on then he needs to rethink his stance, but apart from that he has every right to feel the vehicle is lookin' rough....I do too.....

No, it looks like those cars looked back then. Owners weren't as precious about them as people are today.

When our XB GT blew coolant all over the engine bay on a trip to Batemans Bay (in 1977 from memory), the problem was fixed - and that's it! No cleaning up, just get in and drive. It almost always had roofracks on it to carry our canoes - we drilled a hole in the front bar for a hook to tie ropes to. In winter the rear Aungers came off and a pair of crap looking black 12-slotters went on (as the snowchains didn't fit the Aungers). Detailing? What's that?

FFS the car's been sitting in a shed for almost 30 years - how do you expect it to look?

Even when it was parked it was 6-7 years old, and had done 50,000km!!

Of course it won't look immaculate.

My AU Fairmont is only 7 years old, and that HO looks heaps better. And I even give mine a wash every month or two. The HO hasn't had a wash in three decades!!

The dust on the HO looks very superficial to me, and I could only dream that my interior and boot looked that clean.

Nicholas is right and you are wrong. Black and white. Not a skerrick of doubt about it.

Now don't be such an arrogant ****.

I thought the stripes over the roof bonnet and bootlid were a factory item on the HO's. Correct me if im wrong.

Blackouts were only ever on the bonnet, never the roof or bootlid...

You'd be suprised how many were ordered minus the bonnet and side stripes. This is also true about the VC Brock commodores. Alot of people wanted a fast car without the "Look at me" factor.

its for sale with $800,000 already offered with 4 more buyers flying and driving to look at it still, looks like it will go to Sydney or might stay in Melbourne so far.

I think I would rather the old car than a new performance ford, nothing these days can compare with what is sitting there.
