Default Do you flash your lights to other drivers if their are cops on the road?

Just a survey to see how many drivers let others know their are speed cameras ahead.

I would like to thank other drivers who have flashed their lights to warn me of cops ahead.

Cheers!

I'm one of the people who don't. I don't speed, so I don't get fined. I think that other people should think this way as well.
If you want to disobey the posted speed limit, then be prepared to pay the consequences. If you don't want to pay the consequences, then don't speed. Simple as that.

Couldn't agree more.

If I get fined for speeding so be it. I shouldnt have to rely on others telling me theres cops. And like you said, if people are speeding they should pay the consequences.

Cant say I agree with u... like someones already mentioned... sometimes you slip a couple K's over without noticing... and btw cops always tend to stick cams in the worst spots like just after the speed limits changed so if ur not slowed down to that speed right when u pass the sign u get booked : I always flash my lights 4 other drivers and I apretiate it when they do it for me Cheers 2 all ;)

Spot on, mate.

I don't flash either simply because as a driver, I can't rely on anybody else to make me drive safe. It's effectively a choice. If people want to make the choice to exceed the limit, regardless of how ridiculously low it may be, then as responsible adults, they should accept what comes their way rather than whinge about "revenue raising".

The law is simple.

And please Sleekism, type in English, please!

I do flash unless its an idiot who deserves to get caught. 99% of people will return the favour (round here anyway), and you always get a wave etc.

They're my beliefs and I stick to them.

Not all my replies are ethical. Some are pretty stupid which is why I get flamed sometimes. But that's part of the game.

As I said, I don't plan to be caught because I observe speed limits, unless I don't notice it.

I agree that booking people who are 4kph over the limit is pointless. That is sometimes due to a minor lapse in concentration. I don't stare at my speedo all the time making sure I am not a tick over the limit.

The government should focus on catching the fools rather than nabbing the minor cases.

I believe the boys in blue are booking people if they get caught flashing their lights to warn.... I guess if they can proove that was your intention.
Anyone heard or worse - encountered this?

Im with you. I dont speed. I watch my speedo very closely. If I am speeding its usually just a little squirt for 4 or 5 sec, then back to the speed limit. Im usually the guy in the SS or XR6T in the left lane on the highway with the cruise control set to 110, with everyone else flying by.

When I want to go fast, as fast as I can, I go the race track.

I would especially in areas where the speed limit is unacceptably slow and creates dangers from people slowing down and speeding up. And places where they change speed limits regularly for no reason.

I have never said that I have never been over the speed limit. I will speed if the situation warrant it, such as overtaking cars and trucks on a single lane highway. I sure as hell am not going to spend longer than necessary on the wrong side of the road.
If I do get caught, then it is no ones fault but mine for traveling faster than the posted speed limit. I will pay the fine, I might be unhappy about it, but I sure won't be hopping on to a forum venting my frustration at myself for doing the wrong thing and trying to blame "revenue raising camera's" or "over-zealous cops."

I have been driving the EL for 8 years now and I pretty much know exactly what speed it is doing without having to look at the speedo simply from the sounds I can hear, e.g. revs, wind, etc, meaning I can concentrate more on the road than the speedo.
The Peugeot has a built in speed limiter that you can set to what ever speed you wish. I use this regularly when I am driving it and it guarantees that I won't go over the speed limit. Otherwise, I'll use the cruise control on it.
The XE, well that is sitting in a shed on someone else's property, so it can't speed at the moment.

I drive mainly country roads due to where I live. One of these roads is signposted at 90km/h. It would be nice if it was 110km/h, but as it is 90, I'll travel at 90.

Do unto other as you would like others to do unto you lol go god hahaha Nah seriously why not? apart from legality but the whole idea of speed cameras is to slow people down. Here in brissie at the big roundabout at the bottom of mount cootha there was like a camera there 3 times a week. Every one slows down now and there was always a few ppl heading in either driection to flash you. I do it all the time and appreciate it when people do it too me.

Just make sure to use standard beam headlights instead of high beam, otherwise the cops can book you for inappropriate use of your high beams. I've seen a camera car and 200m later, there was a cop car waiting in a side street to pick up people who flash their high beams.

Usually do unless I can tell they are going way to fast and deserved to be ******. All the sites are on the net anyways so I've pretty much know all the spots they are likely to be.

BTW, ACT people new fixed cameras are supposed to come online in July for Federal Hway, Tuggeranong Parkway, Barton Hway, and Monaro Hway! Looks like cruise will be used now.

i will mostly give a warning flash, its pretty easy to slipp a few Ks over limit and a flash of the lights will make you check your speed.

in my defence : a speed camera hiding in the bush dosnt slow you down but if someone flashes their lights a few km down the road you will slow down and so must be safer.

i dont warn if its a RBT . drink and drive you should be caught.

Ah cue the old "dont speed, don't get caught" comments. I believe it is Victoria that doesn't acknowledge the ADR which says that manufacturers can have +/- 10% accuracy.

In Canberra, everyone speeds like there's no tommorow and we're fine.
