Default Poll: How do you react when caught by a speed camera?

After being caught speeding by a speed camera and recieving the fine, how do you behave when driving?

after recieving my fine in the mail this morning, three weeks to the day from the actuall crime.50 in a 40 zone.in this three weeks my eractic driving behavoir could have killed somebody.should,nt they have informed me earlier.

driving today after recieving my fine i did notice that i now spent more time watching the speedo than the actual road,so a guess that makes me a much safer driver now.

if you want the details see my thread. got done 50 in a 40 zone.

Read what you posted. IN THE THREE WEEKS IT TOOK TO RECIEVE MY FINE, I COULD HAVE KILLED SOMEONE WITH MY ERRATIC DRIVING. If you didnt realise you were driving stupidly before being told about it in the mail then i personally think you need to take a long hard look at yourself and use this as a wake up call. No harshness intended. Its just the way it is.

I check for other cars that are nearby and take down their rego numbers.

I also ask for the photo when the fine arrives. Every single time there has been another car in the pic. You'd be amazed how many "double" or even "triple" fines that the govt. collects because every car in the pic gets a notice. And 99% of people just pay up and cop it sweet. SUCKERS.

Then I simply write in and ask how they can ascertain that it is my car in the pic that is speeding and not the other one. Answer is always the same - fine revoked.

How about if the first thing you know about it, is when you get a nasty letter in the mail weeks after the offence? Do you cop it on the chin and decide to be a better boy from now on, or do you vent some steam by driving faster than than you usually do?

Ive only had one camera fine for doing 110 in the 100 zone on the Goose (Bruce) Hwy heading back home to the Sunshine Coast from Brisbane about 8 or 9 yrs ago. I saw the van just before it flashed, pic was head on, not tail (picture was of the front end nose diving as I hit the anchors). I was surprised they were there, there was no other traffic. I kept doing 110 once I got over the shock of being pinged, its a dual lane divided Hwy and turns to 110 just up the road anyway.

You mean the same way people who get pulled over do. As soon as the copper is out of sight they imagine they are 'stickin it up em' by planting the foot anyway. "Whats the chances of another being round the corner" type attitude.

People get pulled over, then once the ticket has been written and they are free to leave, they race change into second etc as they leave just to..., I dont know what for, but somehow it pleases them to do it anyway.

Be careful speeding up after you have past a speed camera
especially on the M4 in Sydney as they often have a highway
patrol car hiding at the next on ramp waiting for prey.

That surprises me as the rule of thumb is +10% in Qld.
I used to do around 80,000kms per annum all over Qld for 12 years during the 80's and 90's and always drove by that rule, passing many speed cameras, and was never fined. I still drive by that rule and pass by speed cameras on the M1 from Gold Coast to Brisbane with no problems.

Might have been 112. I know the fine was in the lower bracket.

But we dont have 10%, its a couple of k's, thats it.

You will get off every time. Speed camera's are illegal. You do not have to pay.
Do your self a favour and pay the $65. Even if you are not looking at a fine rite now. There is lots to know......

I dunno. I haven't been caught by one. I tend to stick to the speed limits, even if they are ridiculously slow, and only there to keep the government payroll topped up.

Expletives then smiles....
I got done by a copper in a side street, i was on the main road and was pulled up at the next street by his "enforcer"
Luckily he was a ford man, and i admitted to not knowing my speed, and that i knew my speedo was out, (diff gears, wheels) and that i concentrate more on the road ahead than my dash... After a little chat i left without a fine and a smile on my face...

I normally just hand the wife her keys when I get home and say nothing at all. She tends to get worked up about camera fines though.

The radar's don't pose much of a problem for me thanks to my X50 (highly recommend this detector) sitting on the windscreen which gives me enough warning to slow down and wave hello to the guy doing the mobsters (Govt) dirty work

Of course once I pass them, I hit the loud pedal and continue driving at a speed suitable to the current road conditions.

The lasers are a little more difficult but so far I've been marked 3 times this year with the lasers, most of the time I can make out the patrol car sitting by the road or the bright fluoro jackets they wear and slow down just in time for when they pull the trigger...

i garauntee the guy with the laser will spot you a loooong time before you spot him.

been easy 10 years since i've had any sort of infringement notice so can't really comment on reactions. i think the last time i got done was for running a red light without actually going through the intersection. i had a cop behind me who was obviously having a bad day as he claimed that whilst i was edging forward waiting for the light to change green (my lane had roadworks up ahead) i went over the line which constituted running a red. red was the colour after that let me tell you. prolly more a crimson/purple colour i was that mad. the missus actually got out and told me to stop yelling at the cops so she copped a spray for her trouble as well.

i've learned the hard way though. it may be 10 years since i've been done but before that i donated quite a few large sums to the boys in blue and caght the bus for 6 mnths as a result of one too. i work hard for my coin and don't like giving it away at the best of times.

I have only had one actual ticket and I got of it because the date was wrong. So check everything. I have had cameras flash at me several times but have never seen a ticket. I assume there is always another car in the picture

Saw a big blue flash behind me this morning
(doing about 50, perhaps 55) in a 60 zone.
Just waiting to see if it was me or someone else...
